Do you think that the dogs from Tatonka, even though they may not be what most dogmen are looking for, would be good for hunting or just plain house pets?

I am no expert on Tatonka dogs .If your looking for a dog I would say get what fits your lifestyle. No use in having a race car if your not going to race! I would say they are capable of doing a lot of things ! As for hunting ? I couldn't say on that.I got one from Joanie and he has been a fine dog but if they are all like him well he is a little too high strung for a house pet.I like a calm dog for a house dog.

Good post Bamaman, I also heard tatonka dogs to be versitile... I bet its cause the excellant husbandry skills given to multiple generations that makes them more biddable than most...

I appreciate it, I have been looking into those dog for some years. Talked with Joanie on the phone and still try to email every once in a while, she is very nice and doesn't BS. They seem like they would be a good fit but I am always researching and trying to talk with others who have experience. I appreciate it!

Once again. This one from Joanie http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=442584 and this one came from Bert http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=115765 .
I like the Sorrell's blood & will probably get another dog or two from Tatonka in the future to freshen up the Sorrell's blood in some of the breeding's such as this one.
    http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=427582 .

Joanie is good people & to me as close to the source of original Sorrell's blood .
You can always cross out a pure dog & use less than 100% pure Sorrell's if that's your thing .
I like my stuff as close as you can get from the source.

Ziggy, what is it that draws you to the Tatonka/Sorrell dogs, from your own personal experiences from working with the line ?

Thanks, I got nothing but good feeling when speaking with her. Really easy to talk to and seemed like she enjoyed talking about the dogs which made me feel better. Thanks, and nice dogs!

Just say this much about them. Helps make good dogs better.
Like giving a little b12 shot . Once you get a GOOD ONE, YOU HAVE A GOOD ONE!
    Real Strong & dominate!
Personally rather go more Sorrell's than Red boy when it comes to Gameness . Smarter & more finish to me than Red Boy dogs. Red boys tend to be more heart & less smart. Had & used them both.
Sorrell's easier to have more well rounded dogs with better finish.
Dam sure wouldn't hurt to run together.
Should add punch & finish to what you have.
I mean just good representation of what game dogs should be.

We have had quite a few Sorrells dogs throughout the years. I will say this they are like Bamaman said VERY high strung. They are nut jobs. Lol and you will want to kill them many times as a pup. Lol they LOVE their humans!!! Always want to be up under you.

Now with that said. We only have 1 now. And she is not a Tatonka dog. My profile pic was a Sorrells male and he was not a Tatonka dog either. We have had our fair share of Tatonka dogs but like I said we no longer have them.

You can get pure Sorrells elsewhere you just need to know where to look.

Tatonka were Burts dogs. But now Joanie breeds them, more to the show dog, pet level at this time it only takes a few Breedings to drasticly change a dog ,so if you want a fine show dog or pet They are a pretty good dog .

Well to produce black and tan offsprings both parents have toncarrybtjr recessive gene. So breeding an APBT with another breed that carries the recessive gene. It is possible to produce Black and Tan pups.

I had a litter. Both parents were red. But carried the recessive gene.

That litter was split. 3 black and tans, 2 reds, and 1 buckskin.

Anybody ever tried "crossing" it with Bolio blood? Really be more like line breeding on Klaus Zeke. I just got a pup back out of a deal I made last year that is essentially 50/50 Sorrells/vise grip or linebred Zeke depending on how you look at it.

That sounds like a nice breeding. This cross has been done before and yes it works well.

    I run them 25%/25% , Sorrell's Topside / Patrick's Bottom.
Some dogs may have the Patricks in the middle with Hollands (Red Boy) on the bottom & in the future Sorrell's topside. Bolio middle & Nigerrino on the bottom but most are going with the Bolio bottom.
