LOL, that's the Japanese Sumo rule and yes, the Sumo rule is indeed what you've just stated. However, you do realize that the Sumo rule is only done for the entertainment of foreigners and as a demonstration. You realize that in Sumo rules, the dogs aren't allowed to seriously bite onto their opponent and that the handlers don't even step foot in the ring. However, the actual conventions are quite different and are akin more towards the tradition of dog matching first started in the akita prefecture. Pretty much a 10 foot ring and two dogs going into each other hard!!!! It is an actual fight. Here's a few photos taken in 2003.

The sumo rules are different to this. This is pretty much two dogs going into each other and the only time when the dogs are broken up is if one quits or the other handler concedes. Tell me in these pics, where do you see a red circle being drawn? Here we go again with the assumptions again. Stop assuming because you are seriously making an ass out of yourself. Who said I was putting a Tosa on the same pedestal as the bull and terrier dogs? I said that a good Tosa, Akita, Shar Pei, etc. can hold their own against a good bull and terrier since someone said that the bull and terriers cannot be touched by another breed. Also a real deal Tosa is not a cur. There was a match between a Tosa and Gr. Ch. Tito that was done under the Japanese/Akita Prefecture rule, the same rules the dogs in the pics are competing in. The match went 1:10 and the apbt was the winner that day, but not because the Tosa had quit. It was because the Tosa had died from blood loss. Btw, the handlers betted $3,000 on it and the Tosa had dispatched apbts before.

  2. My family came from Co.Cork Ireland in the late 30's and after WW11 my granda went immediately 2 what he did best, makin babies and breedin bulldogs!I'm 40yrs old and have listened 2 my granda's theory's on the IRISH strain of these great dogs my whole life. Its been a real interesting HISTORY lesson from his understanding and 70yrs worth of involvement in these dogs.As far as i can see there has been many roads traveled in search of the same destination.A deadgame dog!History is great, but i stay focused on what i have out on the hillside behind my house right now in my own search 4 greatness.Got one right now thats turning some heads here in Tennessee!Good luck gentlemen in your own journey. Only a fool would match dogs on a tile floor, and I bet I know why it's not a scratching contest LOL (because they quit). About the tosa vs. apbt match you found on google- Most likely the Tosa was much Larger and would have jumped to save itself but it couldn't find the strength to get both it's own body and the attached apbt over the wall. LMFAO
I'm curious, Is it your uncanny ability to use google that makes you sooo "NewSchool"??? LOL

LMAO, actually, I found out about the match on a Tosa forum. Also where is this match online? Upon your suggestion, I did a quick google search and the shit that popped up was/is ridiculous. Google "Tosa vs APBT" and please show me a link to it, preferably from first hand accounts from the handler of the apbt or anyone that was there to witness this battle. All I got when I googled "Tosa vs APBT" was a whole bunch of stupid ass sites listing why the Tosa would win and shit like this:

    http://www.picarena.com/index.php?fighter1=Tosa+Inu&fighter2=pitbull&action=fight

Btw, I can see where "N2" in your name comes from LOL. Again you assume and again you make an ass of yourself. Though seriously, if you can find a copy of the match between gr. ch. tito and the Tosa, please send it to me. I trust you won't be a dick and not send it right? This forum is for learning and all bitching aside, if you can find it and give it to me, I'd be thankful.

Yeah, I'll post some more photos of that dog. Don't worry about it, my skin is quite thick LOL. Besides, when you talk dogs, things are bound to get heated and not everyone will agree.

Damn, I forgot to address your assumption (damn, again you're assuming. What's with you and your assumptions. At least make an educated guess. For example, state why you thought the Tosa would lack the strength to jump the pit etc.). Sorry, you stated that the match report was on google and I tried to find it since I've only heard one side of this. It'll be interesting to read the detailed match reports. Anyways, about why the matches aren't a scratching contest. You realize that they have been matching their dogs in this type of way for centuries. These are considered honor matches and some still utilize the akita simply because of tradition. They have no concept of what a "scratchin contest" is or what "cajun rules" are. Please dont' assume and there have been tosas matched with apbts in cajun rules. I know of one match that passed the 30 minute mark, but ultimately the Tosa began to fatigue and was picked up, not curred out like you'd assumed.

A 57 lbs game-bred Pit Bull (APBT) vs. a Tosa weighing over 100 Ibs. "Buster" fought 3 Tosas that weighed over a 100 lbs and defeated all of them. "Buster" was so much faster and appeared to be as strong as the larger dogs. The contests lasted about 20 minutes each. "Buster" belonged to a U.S. military person stationed at an Air Base near Tokyo Japan. Buster was shipped to Japan from Louisiana for the fights.

At the time of this match, tito (apbt) was a 26 kg 4xw, and Tano (tosa) was a 54 kg 10xw. The owners of Tito said this match against a tosa twice the size of Tito, was easier than some of Tito's other wins against apbts his size. Tito's owner also said that if it were a cajun rules contest it would have been more like 20 minutes. Think how CURRIFIC the tosas that tano had beaten must have been...all 10 of 'em LOLOL

    apbt > tosa all day

Who is this buster dog? Also when did the match take place? Was it on may 1981, or was that when the story was reported? This story sounds similar towards the Gr. Ch. Tito story. Also he fought 3 Tosas at the same time back to back? I'd like to hear more about this dog.

LMAO, are you serious bro? You do realize that wrestling etc. is how dogs play with one another. They simply take two cold dogs, or dog friendly dogs and allow them to wrestle each other to determine who is dominant. It is merely play and it is done for the tourists. Jeez, why do you always assume?

LMAO, you realize that of those 10 matches, Tano only had 6 matches against other Tosas. The other four were apbts that he'd dispatched at over 20 mins., all matched at catchweight.Does that mean that those four apbts were curs? Also what about dogs like Bullyson and Wood's Snooty? Bobby Hall still regards Bullyson as a great dog and so does the old master, Maurice Carver. Similar with Wood's Snooty, he was still a great dog. Now again you assume that Tano was simply a cur or just a regular Tosa that the Japs decided to match into Tito. You realize that the Japs know about the apbt and their competency in the sport of dogmatching don't you? The reason why Tano was chosen and the specific amount wagered for the match (3,000) was due to Tano's history of having dispatched apbts in the past. Also Tano isn't highly regarded as the top Tosa, he's far from being the top Tosa.
