Maybe it's been asked but pretend it's 1970. You can't agree on a weight. Would you rather be the one to bring your dog down extra weight or bring it up extra weight?

Neither, if a weight couldn't be agreed between us then I would bring a dog that was closer to the agreed weight.

when it was leagle if I had a dog whos weight was 40lbs I would set the match
    at 41

its hard to be dead on in conditioning

so yeah Id match him at 1 pound heavy but I would come one pound light still good on the forfit as im not over but if the other guy comes heavy just half a pound Id collected

No its not hard tobring a dog in a the right wt. Thats bullshit you just have to know your dogs wt. frank I loved it when guys did that 1 pound is too much ti give up . If you are in good comp you call a 40 lb wt you come in at 39 and I bring mine in a 40 in perfect shape I got the bigger dog and Im allready ahead of you from the start. Allways keep your dog a lb over , the last 24 once you take away the h2o your dog will drop that lb any way. So frank if you were 39 the last day by time show time came you would dry up to 38.5 or even 38. then if you used dex every hr counts on that ,buy time every one was done screwing off you may even be down below 38. so By wg in my dog was in keep the last week at 41 or even 42 after he dryed out and emptyed out at show time Im 40 on the dot . and Your poor mutt would be so weak he wouldnt be able to pull a string out a sick cats ass. Now who do you think is going home with a happy dog? YOU HAVE TO KNOW YOUR DOGS WT and how to bring one in befor you even call wt.

first off who said anything about bringing my dog in light

if i got a true 39er I would match him at forty

    thats what I said

and I dont deal with mutts J

and if it was leagle trust me I wouldnt use a dog if i felt he/she couldnt win without dope

come on J you underestimate me and thats the first mistake

I not gonna be the one walking and using matchsticks

    or shaving mydog

    ive heard it all
so yeah you can pull em down to the set weight but it takes time to get that skill
so I choose a lil light instead of heavy

like I say if I see he works best at 39 I would set it at 40

One poud is too much to give up . I dont care what you have . so what you are saying is you are giveing up a pound from the start if thats so you are shooting your self in the foot every time. I dont care what book you read. allways bring your dog in at the right wt. NEVER give up a pound I have seen way too much bad come of it. Sure you may do allright with some new guy with a duck. but when you are in real comp that is just stupid. If you dont have the skill to bring one in at the right wt. you need learn more about dogs. It is not hard at all to get the right wt. if you come in at 40 with a 39 lb dog you still are doing your dog wrong for he is not at peak shape and is holding that pound some where most of the time its water wt that he doesent need in turn will make it harder for him aslo. 2and if you bring your dog at 39 peak the peak 40 is going to be the bigger dog. Unless you have a freak I think we all know what happens when bout dogs are strong and just as talented and one is bigger. The bigger dog 90% of the time wins. That is not odds I am willing to advise to anyone.

ok, let me get this right, you wouldnt have been able to condition your dog down to an agreed weight, so you would have possibly gave your dog the disadvantage from the start? 1lb is 2.5% of a 40 lb dogs weight Frank

all i can say is if it was leagle thats the way I would do it

    you may not agree

but thats how I would go

Oh and frank You better walk that dog and he damn sur be all the way empty if that takes using a match stick so be it. its alot better than shitting in the box. and I have seen alot of dogs shaved in the ass end what ever to keep them cool I have seen it done by dog men that are quit famous. go on and pull you dog out the creat and set him out with out letting him walk out. you are really showing your skills.

match stick, straw, whatever it would have took. i found a whole bunch of fellas that hadnt have heard of that one before on another forum. how about you frank?

I dont see it as a disadvantage

bringing a dog in heavy would be he cant breath
    and runs hot

but you can come light and still be 100%

so lets say you have two dogs

1 is a true 40 but the other is true at 42

but the match is set at 41

who would be the one you belive to win if both are equal in ability/gameness and every thing relied on condition

id bet the 42 that came down 1 pound has a better chance
because you can give up one pound and still be in top condition
but to gain one pound has a whole different effect on the dog

if my dog is a 40 lber at best, i dont want him at 39 or 41. i want him at 40

What you have is two dog men that are puttin the head up ther ass they should not even call a wt then or agree to come in at there dogs proper wt. and fact is if you have a two lb diff that should have benn otc and call it good. who the hell wants to put 8 weeks of work in to a bullshit deal anyway.Thats why its pound for pound hell frank you dont make CH dogs thinking the way you are. sorry but it is just stupid and thats a fact I live in the real world and in the real world you dont give up wt unless you dont give a shit about your dog.

  19. TripleJ

And if you take a pound from a 42 lb dog to 41 you will see a dog that cant bite after about 20 and will get weak just as fast.

trust me j if it was going down he would be emptied out but by his/own will

when you shave, or use the matchsticks, it was usualy because you came in heavy
and hoped to lose weight before they collect the forfiet

and woody its a lot of things I know but thats cause im not a newb trust me

I am in noway involved in,condone or promote activities that would be concidered animal cruelty
