Pitts and Patts, id be happy to have a chat with you about hunting down here, let me know. 90% of what i was bought up with was foxes and Rabbits with the old man and the dogs during the day and just spotlight work off the ute at night. We use to hunt four days a week minimum, as there was allways plenty of vermin around.
When i was too young to take a gun on my own the old man would give me an weathered bit of garden hose for snakes[and anything else i needed it for] and i would usually go with at least four dogs on foot. A couple of fast ones and one or two earth dogs usually foxies to flush out the quarry. On my own we would knock of more feral cats than anything else, and trust me the feral cats down here are big and tough a fair portion of the were bigger than the dogs we used. I have even seen big cats cur out some of our dogs as hard as you may find it to believe, the dogs would almost be suprised when they got onto a cat that would come at them at the start as hard as they did. Plenty of funny stories to yarn about , was def the best fun a kid could have out in the country. As a kid i loved reptiles and my dad opened up a cat we killed and shoed me its stomach contents, two native birds and the scattered remains of what we thought was about twenty native skinks and lizards, all undigested so that was his food for the day. From there on i was a 13 year old kid on a mission and like the redneck bogan i am took great pride in bagging them and showing the old boy when we were done.Mum thought i was a sicko.
