I think they meant warning basset hound with cropped ears.

Good. I hope that is what they think a pit bull looks like. Then maybe they will leave my dogs & I alone! After all, if they think that is what a pit bull looks like they'll think my dogs are too small & skiny to be pit bulls! lol. :D

  3. That's a real dog, don't you know, lol.
I hope noone really buys those.

    Stillwater has nice decals.

I can't believe anyone would put one of those up. Its bad enough if you put a Beware of Dog sign and your dog bites someone thats not supposed to be in your yard. Then when they sue you the mawyer says... well you knew the dog was dangerous heck you even put a sign up. But if you don't have the sign up you get in trouble for not having a sign up warning people you have a dog... now we warn people of the breed we have? I really hope people aren't putting those up... :(

I'm sure they're putting them up. I saw one in my local co-op. It had a different logo on it, but the text was the same. I also saw one on Animal Cops. Same thing -different logo, but the text was also the same - beware of pit bull. So I assume ppl are buying these signs all over the country & different ppl are making them.

They have em' here that say "I can make it to the gate in 2.3 seconds, can you?" That sh!ts just asking for it. But that is a relivant question. Should you hang a sign or not??

Like I said before its a catch 22.. damned if you do.. damned if you don't.

I would say absolutely not. Firstly, you are drawing undue attention to yourself & your dog & secondly, on the off chance anything SHOULD happen, it can be used against you.

I would be more worried about the sign saying "Beware of vicious, slathering, kid-eating, monster pit bull!"

This is my opinion.. I have "Beware of Dog" signs all over my place not because of the Bulldogs but because of my Doberman.. She IS Human aggressive and I got her for that reason... I think ANY dog owner should get atleast one BWD sign (Not "Beware of PitBull")... It covers yous a** and if ANY BODY comes to your place and gets bit you warned them... I would have them even if I all I had were Coonhounds... It's a warning.. a precation that I think any reasponsible dog owner should have.... be it Min pins or Dobermans.....

I agree and disagree.. simply because i saw it happen. A guy down the way from me has a couple of Akitas well one bit a teenager that was cutting across his yard.. Well he had BWD signs up everywhere and the judge ruled the dog had to be put down.. The lawyer's agruement was that the owner knew the dog was aggressive.. why else would he have put the sign up.... But that being said I have signs up at my place and I keep Boomer in the front since he's the loudest and tends to keep folks away.

Good point NC. That is why you never, ever, ever, ever, EVER put up a "Beware of Dog" sign! The law looks at it as an automatic admission that you knew the dog was vicious & would bite. If you put up anything, put up "No Trespeassing" sign. But never ever put up "Beware of Dog!"

What do you all think of "Dog on Premises" signs? Letting people know the dog is there, but not hinting in any way that it is vicious.

Personally, I think that it is best to put a "NO TRESPASSING" sign up. If you think you need to warn some idiot that is to lazy to walk around your property about your dog, then have signs that say "Be Aware of DOG" these, I think, are better than "BEWARE of DOG" sign's.

I see yalls point on not using a sign at all, but the hard truth is my cousin thought that way too. He had a Chow-Chow and when a stranger opened his back gate to ?????? (probably break in) the dog bit him..... long story shortened, he almost got sued and the dog was put to sleep. The only reason he didn't get sued is because of the No trespassing sign on his front door, but sadly his dog was put to sleep for lack of a Beware of Dog sign. The judge then told him that if the sign had been in place, the dog would have only received one week on house arrest (WHAT?!)

Now maybe I'm crazy but, if an univited intruder enters a dog's territory, is the dog supposed to greet him with a smile and a lick? BTW the Chow was very visible to the intruder since the only fencing was chain link and anyone who knows Chow-Chows knows that the dog was probably going crazy before the guy opened the gate.

The crap the us as dog owners, NOT just APBT owners, have to go through is beyond ridiculous!

i have a buddy that spent 20 yrs as a dog warden,,,he owns 2 dobermans,he has a sign up on his fence that has the "warning i can make it to the fence in 2 seconds can you",,,,he also has a sign up on the main gate to his property that clearly says "no trespassing except on business" and anothyer that lets people know if they come on his property uninvited he will take them to court for trespassing,,he doesnt ask for trouble,,never gets it either,,hell people have more than his dogs to worry about if they mess around his place,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but this sign needs to go!

I have "warning area patroled by pit bull security company" signs, but I really think of them as novelties I have one hanging in the garage and one hanging in the computer room.N.C.,I know exactly what you are talking about, its the same way here,Puttin up the sign is admitting that your dog is dangerous, but not warning peope about the dog ,its your ass too.Stupid shit.Criminals have more rights to do what they do ,than we have to protect ourselves and our property.
