    Michael Vick seemed to get an “adrenaline high” when he killed dogs that didn’t measure up at his now-defunct Virginia dog fighting operation, according to documents obtained by WSB TV.

    The records from the U.S. Department of Agriculture -- part of the federal investigation of the former Atlanta Falcons, now Philadelphia Eagle, quarterback – describe graphically how Vick and others at Bad Newz Kennels killed dogs that lost or refused to fight.

    Losing was not accepted, according to the records.

    ”All of the pit bull dogs were destroyed after they lost a fight or refused to fight,” an unnamed confidential witness told investigators. “The dog that won the fight was the only dog that was allowed to live.”

    Vick pleaded guilty in 2007 to bankrolling a dog fighting operation and then served a year and a half of a 23-month federal prison sentence. Released to home confinement on May 22, 2009, he volunteered with the Humane Society of the United States' anti-dog fighting program that targets young men who may tempted because they find that world glamorous.

    While still serving his federal prison sentence, Vick also pleaded guilty to a Virginia state charge of attending, sponsoring and participating in dogfights. He received a three-year suspended prison sentence for the Virginia charges.

    Three others associated with Bad Newz Kennels -- Tony Taylor, Quanis Phillips and Purnell Peace -- also have pleaded guilty and were sentenced to federal prison time.

    In public, the former football star has been contrite about his zeal for fighting pit bulls. But the records of interviews in the federal investigation suggest a man who was more interested in the bloody fights, one of which lasted more than three hours, than in the money that came out of them.

    “Vick never took portions of the winning wages,” according to a summary of an interview with one of the witnesses, whose identity was redacted from the records.

    Witnesses said Vick, known as “Ookie” at the kennel, would bankroll bets for others but he didn’t claim any winnings. He also didn’t take the cash prize for the winning dogs.

    And the money collected at the door to get into the fights – between $5 and $20 per person – was used only to buy food for the dogs, according to the WSB documents.

    Yet, Vick paid for almost everything.

    He paid for the dogs and the Surry County, Va., property for the kennel. He paid for a double-wide trailer to go on the land and then covered the costs of building a $400,000 house and sheds for training, fighting and treating injured dogs, a witness told investigators.

    According to the records:

    • In 2003, Vick and two other men attended a dog fight in Blackstone, Va., bringing with them two pit bulls. Both lost so “the dogs were left with the owner of the property because Vick did not keep dogs that lost matches.”

    • In April 2007, Vick tested several dogs to determine if they had the predisposition to fight and if they were capable of winning. Vick ordered six or eight dogs destroyed because they did not meet his standards. The witness said Vick personally helped drown three or four dogs, a process that took two people to hold the animal’s legs while the dog’s head was held under water. Vick also hung dogs. The witness told investigators Vick, Peace and Phillips “seemed to get an ‘adrenaline high’ when killing the dogs.”

    Attempts to reach Vick or his representative have not been successful.

    Not saying its right but people dont understand that culture behind it. street level dog fighting is something thats around. The people involved aren't very educated but thats what they know. They should be penalized but i stil think they were way to hard on Vick. He main mistake was not watching the company he keeps. They made an example out of him, no1 else would have been penalized like that. He paid his debt times 100, i wish people would let it go. They took away everything he had worked hard for and earned. His peeps know that he had the bread to get them all off but there aint no loyalty in the game anymore. Everyone is tellin...

    Thats fucking bullshit, the only reason they say he wasn't involved in the money side of things is so he doesn't get slapped with racqueteering charges.

    No comment on the cur culls.

    but in all realaity this is what was said by someoneles besides vick ""The witness told investigators Vick, Peace and Phillips “seemed to get an ‘adrenaline high’ when killing the dogs.”.
    Thats a great way to twist things up so people will think differently about it.Most people wouldnt finish reading the artical and will just assume thats how he felt coming for vick himself..Thanks mike

    OBVIOUSLY you haven't kept up with the time handed out to other people charged with dog fighting.

    Wonder why mike got off so easy compared to the folks who got 5x the amount of time he got. Not to mention NO time for state charges. Well add up 2 and 2 and see what you come up with. Seems you are lacking in knowledge of what is happening across the country and just wanna stand up for mikey.

    The biggest cur is his organization was him and the first in line to be culled should have been him.

    He probably wasn't involved with the money because he was filthy rich and didn't need it. Misleading title, I don't trust these witnesses as far as I can throw them. Let Vick live, and stop picking at this scab.

    He didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground obviously if he culled everything that lost. If that were the criteria for proper culling, there would be a huge number of famous dogs who have produced amazing animals who would have never been bred.

    Why would he not have anything to do w/ the financial part of this whole thing, but was willing to cull w/ his own hands? It doesn't really make since. I would think he would have the guys running the show do it, just like they were doing everything else. And then again a huge majority of the states info's coming from snitches. Snitches meaning they were willing to testify to reduce their own sentiences even if they had to lie.
    And come on this was no "urban dog-man" set up, they were in the sticks and not on the 4Th floor of some abandoned building.
    And look at all of her(Rhoda Cooks) sources, U.S. Department of Agriculture, unnamed confidential eyewitness, three state informants, and more eyewitnesses(w/o names). Not one name besides the 3 snitches. That's journalism for you.

    My guess is he was in it for the sport. He had no need to bet and was just in it for the dogs. Breeding and showing to try and get the best dogs possible. Now I doubt he was very successful in creating top stock but money was no obstacle for him.

    F*ck Vick. He made the HSUS/ASPCA/PETA stronger. And also, any time dogfighting is mentioned , most people or football fans will think about what they heard on the Michael Vick case and what he did to the dogs.. And on top of these things caused by vick, he "culled" very cruelly. no respect in my book.

    Vick's cousins were wrong for what they did. Ratting him out, they were the one's who were caught selling drugs, they were the ones living on the property which in my mind= they should've went to jail.

    I don't like the Eagles but I hate PETA, HSUS, and ASPCA more...I'm buying every piece of Vick memorabilia that I can find.

    There's a grassroots group to legalize marijuana, what about one for culling dogs...

    This article isnt even a creditable source, its from outside source. Vick was the highest paid player in the nfl. Why the uck would he need to gamble on dogs? And i seriously doubt he culled every single dog that lost. Who is the source of this information? Again 150+ million dollars...

    why is there still so much talk about vick??? he done his time and back on the field, somewhat.. ah well. the light was brightened by his case, but he didn't turn it on. and many others are keeping it on. out of everybody that has gotten locked up behind dogs a years prior and since his case there has been nowhere near as much controversy. let the shyt go.

    i wonder if it would be so much talk if it was peyton manning and the story read the same

    or maybe a sheriff from texas, or doctor from nc, or laborer from ga

    yal jus free advertising for hsus and peta, since they and the rest of the world read this forum

    Funny for all them millions they still had to sell dope out of the house which got em busted. A brilliant cast of characters there now.

    He admitted what he did and how he did it and why. The guy is a retard who should never have had the honor of owning the best breed on the planet. Him or his thug pos cousins.
