heres the post. Dogfighting Ring Busted in Quincy

You can see it in their eyes -these dogs have had a rough life, and they have plenty of scars to show it. A recent dog fighting ring has dozens of animals at the pound and their owner behind bars.

The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office came to 231 L & M Lane in Quincy last week to recover stolen property when they came across 17 dogs tethered to ground poles with heavy chains around their necks. When they found scales, chains, and jumper cables, they knew it was a dog fighting training ground.

Deputies arrested the trainer and breeder of the dogs 34-year-old Yanco Peterson.

"As the pictures show, its just extremely, its sad, it's cruel, this is such a spineless and gutless sport that these individuals are involved and the number of dogs that we impounded the condition that they were in, the type of training tools and the type of medicine that these people are giving these dogs without any training its very sad," says Lt. Jim Corder with the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office.

Neighbors say they sometimes heard dogs barking but just thought Peterson was breeding dogs. Lieutenant Corder says because these fights are held in rural locations and they're over with quickly, they are rarely reported.

"It's very hard for law enforcement to run up on an actual fight. This is how we find it and then we kind of have to work backwards from there."

Peterson is being held at the Gadsden County jail without bond, charged with 34 counts of baiting or fighting animals. Deputies expect to make several other arrests soon.
