<!-- google_ad_section_start -->I need help with my pitbulls right ear, ive taken him to the vet and they had to put him to sleep to do a deep cleaning.. The vet checked for infection and there was none, he checked for mites nothing either.. He told me to clean his ear every other day with wax-o-sol and quadritop ointment which only makes the black stuff in his ear loose and when he shakes his head black stuff starts to fly out but he still has some in his ear and you can tell hes in pain because his ears are cropped and he keeps that one ear down. He's always rubbing his head against the carpet and always itches. He has no flees or ticks, hes not an outside dog.. The vet did mention that he has a yeast infection because his nail bed has a brown dirt look. Can anyone help me solve the problem?? In the beginning it was both ears but now its just his right ear and i feel really bad seeing him in pain. The vet tells me to just continue to use the drops/ointment but its obviously not working. When u move his ear u can hear the wax-o-sol swishing back and fourth and that wet noise is still there even after a week of not using the drops or ointment.. Please help!:confused:

I know this sounds unrelated but what kind of food are you feeding?

No...it might be related to the food. Good question:)

I was feeding him Intimidator dog food but his nails were so bad with yeast & he was still having the black stuff in his ears (which dosent smell at all btw) and now hes on Purina Pro Plan and his nails got alot better and his left ear looks amazing, but his right ear just dosent want to stop having this black stuff..:(

Both of those are terrible foods. It doesn't get much worse than those. I can almost guarantee you would see vast improvements with a new feed.

    I recommend Innova:)

Pro Plan isnt a bad food- not the worst especially. Alot of people might not be able to afford INNOVA or Taste of the WIld and those other high dollar foods.

I think some tea trea oil drops might help his ear but let me ask a friend who had that problem and I will verify.

If you want to get him on a good food that wont break your wallet-go to Tractor Supply and try their 4Health brand- its more than comparable to Evo and the like and less than a dollar a lb.

    I feed Innova too.

They will carry it at small specialty pet stores such as Red Bandanna, etc. You will have to call around and ask.

It could take a while for everything to build up. Trust me, you will not regret turning away from that crap. You will see all kinds of improvements from to how the dog smells, to how much it craps, and it's energy.

I guess it depends on what you call bad. I call that terrible food.

I really appriciate your help, i will be taking him to see a different vet plus changing his food... Evo is def. expensive but at this point i rather spend alittle more just so i dont see him suffering.

How active is your dog? i think it is something that will play a factor if you are concidering EVO. it's verry high Protine feed. i was feeding all the time but changed. i will feed Evo if/when in keep but other then that not every day. there is concern the protine maybe hard on the kidneys.

hes not that active.. occassionally he will run around & do laps in the house but cant take him to parks he dosent get along with big dogs only small ones.. I will try innova as well as get a second opinion from a diff vet.

If the dog is not that active, get regular Innova.

Ok so I've been mixing his old food with Evo and he's been having really bad gas, diareah & this morning threw up?! Am I doing something wrong??I:confused:

The food is too much for him. Evo is supposedly only to be fed to very active dogs. I feed Evo now and at first there was gas, but the stool was solid. Of course I do between 20-30 miles a week with my pupp.

Ok... I would personaly would not recommend feeding Evo to your dog if he is not and highlly active dog.... This was the reason form me asking if your dog was active. Regular Innova will be better for him.
