What age do you give 7 way shots? I have never paid that much attention to it, untill I bred my own dogs. I gave two so far, 6 and 9 weeks and it was a 5 way shot. Pups are now 12 weeks, and was wondering should I use 5 again or go up to 7.

    I give 3 5 ways. 1 at 6wks, again at 9wks and the last at 12wks. The 7 ways don't come until 15 & 18wks.

Of course if you live in an area with Coronavirus, they should get those along with the 5 ways

Depends when you had your bitch vaccinated. If you hit her right before the pregnancy the pups should have longer immunity and you don't need to hit them at 5 weeks... It will be a waste of a vaccinatation and will have no affect. Their immunity will destroy the live virus in the vaccine.

7 way first, then 3 boosters 2 weeks in between shots

Actually I have been told not to give the 7 way shots until the pups are 12 weeks of age you should give the 5 way shots for the first 2 sets 6 & 9 at 12 & 15 they should get the 7 ways and annually or every 3 years thereafter they can get the 7 ways for adults. Really unless your pup is exposed to areas where Lepto and Coronavirus is a concern the 5 way is more than sufficient.

  7. I've always gave 7 way @ 6 weeks, 9 weeks, 12 weeks, and 15 weeks. I've NEVER had a problem giving them. I do have an epi pen on hand always though in case they have a reaction to any shot during the process. My dogs travel so giving the 7 way is the best option IMO. Even if they didn't I'd give it. Once your dog has a disease it's too late. All the while it could have been easily prevented with a simple vaccine.

I used to do this too until one of mine had a reaction to the lepto. I talked to the vet and they told me not to give them 7 ways under 12 weeks but I never had any issues with it until one of the pups had a reaction. Epi pens are a great thing and it's a good idea to have one on hand.

  10. There's really no pinpointing what the puppy had the reaction to. It could have had a reaction to ANY of the vaccines in the 7 way. It's all speculation as to what they had the reaction to when they have one.

I am with Boogie on this one! I always give the 7 way at 6,9,12, and 15 weeks. Then one a year to all grown dogs.

No but from what our vet told us is The most common vaccines that cause reactions are the KILLED ones-Lepto, Corona, Rabies.

  13. It's still just speculation and that's how bullshit spreads. Then all of a sudden 100 people believe lepto is bad to give, then it's 1000, and so on and so on. When in all actuality you're a fool if you're not giving all the vax in my know nothing opinion.

Well we give the 7 ways just don't give them until 12 weeks of age. But to each his own ...

either way seems fine. there are people that believe in this over vaccination scare and drop their pups down to only 2-3 vaccines and only one booster at a year and never again and sometimes they dont even give the booster at the first year. i give the first at 6 weeks which is a 5 way and then from there on its all 7 way including the booster. i give the booster every year for the first three years and then every three years after that. if i was traveling with the pups and on the move with them id give the 7way shot all through out there series. if the pup is healthy before the first shots there should be little side effects with either the 5 or 7 way shots. i may just be speaking out my ass though lol

We give 5 way at 6-9 7way at 12 weeks and 15 weeks Then every year a booster and a rabies shot at 6 mo or so. That seems to be what works for me. I had a real bad case of parvo about 20 yearsago at our old kennel and I dont EVER want to have to go threw that again.

i like the 5 ways for the younger pups. i like to add the lepto part to it after 12 weeks. lepto seems to carry a greater chance of allergic reaction in the younger pups. my vet also waits until the 3rd or 4th booster to add lepto to the mix for this reason. i get the rabies shots done at 12 weeks.
