  10. I think you could get early starting dog that show interest, but maybe arent maure enuogh. I have coonhound pups that start early and thats what we breed for early starters. Them early starting naturals are easier and more enjoyable. To work.

Magnoilaotis and Steinlin are the closest to reality. Some rare dogs just have superior ability early in life. So, some of you saying "So and so did this, and so and so did that" are NOT talking about the thousands that are ruined in back yards due to impatience and dumb eagerness.
When a dog starts, and when a dog MATURES are 2 different times. What talents it expresses are nice but not a matter of maturity. They are just gifted, and they got by on these gifts. It doesn't mean the one(s) in charge of raising the dog were keen in their actions, one bit It means the dog had such early prowess that they got away with it. They should be thankful the dog could do that for them.
It often leads them to believe they will get away with the same thing over and over. That rarely happens.
While you name but a FEW dogs who have succeeded early in life, try to realize there is a HUGE multitude of them being ruined using the same short-sighted methods.

  15. TDK, I've been saying this for "YEARS", and bulldogs aren't like bread meaning they don't go stell if you wait on them, good post as usual...........

I disagree there Dred Lok, I think a dog CAN go stale some call it chain rot! Patience is one thing but at a certain point it goes beyond patience and the opportunity may just pass you by!

i think its not the same to let grow your early starters until they are matured and let a dog rot for years on the chain.

I've read a number of Dred's posts, both here and other venues. I'm absolutely sure he didn't mean "beyond reason". Yes, beyond reason would entail not answering the door when opportunity knocks, and knocks at the PROPER TIME. We all have opportunities. They include the opportunity to screw things up via impatience.
Steely's point is quite correct, yet I took Dred's post to imply "within reason" without it having to be said.
