    Nah it's the backstory. They never wanted disarm to be the smash it was. Then mtv pushed for them to play it at the vma show so they played the ugliest most distorted version ever to piss off MTV. If you look closely Billy blows out 2 or 3 strings mid way through and just keeps going.

    I have a few lines of the song tattooed on me. Both versions hold their own place though. Disarm is a beautiful song and is very overlooked by most. But for them to take it and turn it into that to show they weren't sellouts is amazing to me.
