In the dog's chainspot, I spray clorox and water mix 1st, then put the lyme down and rake it in there chain spot. I also put a little apple cider vinegar over their food. The cow tags are a grat idea. I have those on the collar as well. I use adams flea and tick spray on them about 4x's a week and it works for me. Adams also make a yard spray that is use in their chainspots once a week. One of my dogs is allergic to flea bites so I have to be extremely vigil or deal with a hairless, chewin, red, miserable animal.

    Re: Problem : Fleas

Give the dogs a good flea bath....change his bedding and dust with Sevins in and around his house and chain spot.
Treat the dog with a topical med like Advantix or Frontline.
Spray the yard down or at least the perimeter of the dogs yard.
Cedar shavings as bedding is said to resist fleas also...
Start planting Chrysanthemums around the yard and garden. (every little bit helps! :D)

also try diatamacious earth, available at feed stores. Make sure it is the human grade ( food grade?) NOT the pool filter stuff. It's all natural and made of ground up fossils and bug skeletons. It basically slices the fleas body and dehydrates it. It's better than sevin dust because you don't have to worry about the dog consuming it... we add a little bit to our guys food and it helps with worms as well.

For the dogs body, you can also buy a Capstar pill which i belive kills all the adults on the dog in a reasonable amount of time... then I'd go with flea baths and the DE as they hatch out.
