stable fly(stomoxys calcitrans)

    What is the best ointment for preventing stable flys from biting dog's ears? I couldn't get rid of them in my ex yard,even thou yard was always clean,no livestock or poultry around.Dogs were always treated against parasites,but stable flys kept biting those ears!
    I live in another area now due to my job and don't have stable fly problem now.
