Cherokee here, most of this part of Okla is Rez of some sort or another, we have like 20 casinos now in a 30 or so mile radius, some only like a convenience store size to holding a couple thousand people. Then of curse the city has some big ones, (like Hard Rock )

Indian casinos are an interesting subject. Lots of money coming in, and opportunities for employment, income, education, etc. I suppose there is a downside, but I assume there are people on reservations who are in better financial condition as a result.

I havent saw a downside yet F.D.,,, gambling is illegal in Alabama , I mean not even a lottery here.Butttt reservation land is Federal so the state of Alabama can't touch them.Reservations have thier own laws, a different society so to speak. But lottery is something that would help Alabama out , bible belt here..it will happen one day though.

Ours, (Cherokee Nation) pays out good, like Bama said, tribal lands are a sovereign nation which is how Okla was able to have them, they pay to schools, hospitals all kinds of stuff, takes to ours we have had several multi milion dollar clinics built recently. Schools built & open...LOADS OF Jobs.. Downside, lots of people have that bug & dump lots of money into em, going without at home.. (Mostly whites)..lol.. The retired folks are there from daylight til dark..lol.. Then your night owls hit.. We have poker & machines. tables have really boosted revenue .The newest one going in on Grand Lake a real hot spot & tons of money there, this place will be huge for the tribe... http://bit.ly/267r0P6

People from my area in TX would rather drive to Louisiana to the casinos rather than drive up to Oklahoma. They said they Okeys charge for drinks and they're complementary in LA and they said the payout is WAY better there too.

On Out da Bayou (tv show) they are catching white perch in large numbers. They also called them Sacaley or something like that.
