Well dont papers give you an idea? I mean if you get a pup and then his papers come in and you see gotti and RE you pretty much know to stop feeding it. I knwo the dog makes the papers but they are nice to have I Like looking at peds and seeing where they go back to.

 

If you look at the dogs the papers shouldn't surprise you...KWIM

 

Hmmm,,, to paper or not to paper, that is the question. Wether tis nobler to take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them....LOL.

Just thought I'd throw in a little Shakespear in this seemingly volatile subject. Here is my take on this topic although in the end it really makes no difference.

None of our dogs are registered nor do I think they will be although I believe a couple of their littermates are and some of their ancestors are also. In the future should we decide to sell a dog, that dog will go to someone who is interested in it because the person has either stood behind us or across from us and will know what they are getting. Any person who shows interest in the dog because of the papers is not a person who we would want to sell a dog to. We are much more interested in a person who will do right by a dog is all.

I also disagree with what Lighthouse said about having papers making someone or some dog real. As an example here are a few dogs that do not have any papers:

Now I ask, do you really think that having papers would make those dogs any more or less real? My answer to that question is a definate NO. What makes the dogs real is what they have done, not what some registry as done.
But that's just my opinion and I'm an asshole so I have a lot of those,, no wait that's not how that saying goes, oh well....lol.

 

why register and leave a paper trail to your yard,hand written is the best if you know what you got

 

IMO papers can get in the way, people will give a pretty papered dog a pass, or not look as hard at them because of their papers, vs a dog I bred from my stock that isn't from famous dog this and famous dog that, most likly ppl are gonna look real real hard at my pup because of what he's NOT, and that's the way it should be... If you can't trust the person your getting a pup/dog from that his stock is bulldogs, then papers or no papers it doesn't make a differance... If you want a true Bull Terrier then what does paper work have to do with that, if you want a pretty show dog that your going to peddle pups and stud fee's then papers are a MUST have....

 

Wow.. Its funny how this topic keeps poppin up but imma ad my 2 cents on it...

There are 2 kinds of dog folk.. 1 being your "PEDIGREE/PAPER JUNKIES and 2 being your down home-honest to goodness dogmen/women.. Now these are just my opinions so please take it wit a grain of salt but if it pisses u off then it must be true in some shape/form or fashion....

Ok... #1's are all about the pedigree...Since the dogs of its past where good dogs or wat have u.. They breed just on the fact of history...and because it looks good on paper...And sell an ass load of pups from it also but to each is his own... How many times we see on this site people askin bout breedin this to that and the main factor is how it looks on paper???? But my question would be how are the dogs representin those pedigrees workin??????

Now for #2...These are my kind of people because I am striving to become one myself but these folks are the ones instead of seeing some fancy pedigree you can walk on their yard and see 2-4 generations of the dogs in question.. They could register their dogs but Y????? It dont make these animals no more or less then the ones that are... And if u do so happen to purchase a pup from a #2.. Fill out a single registration form have them sign it and send it off ON YOUR OWN.....

That is just a little of how i feel on the situation because I wanted to stay on the subject matter.. Hope it reads as good as it sounded in my head when i was typin it..hahahahaha

ADBA Papers

 

Papers are just that, PAPERS, they don't mean much and there is tons of contraversy as to the real paperwork behind many famous dogs, however from a breeding stand point (concidering the paperwork is some what accurate) it gives you an idea on where to go as far as what to breed to (again this is dependant on how accurate the paperwork actualy is) At the end of the day though, the dog makes the paperwork not the other way around.....JMO

 

well all i know is my dogs can be papered and i have the transfer of ownership to them but i just have not done it i see no reason to really i like to look at pretty peds just as much as the next man but like has been said they dont mean shit i know what i have and thast all that matters to me
