was wondering if there is any lads on here that would have been around in the days of the legal badger trials in ireland that could give their opinion on which was the better dog for badger, wheaten, working staff , working e.b.t , glen of imaal or any combination of these ie. lines of wheaten heavy in bull blood.

Working wheaten with a touch of bull, Seen some very good staffs. the father, Lord have mercy on him, always favoured the Glen, but that was a time when wheatens and Glens were born in the same litter.

No, but I was around at the end of coon on a log and coon in a log trials for hounds here in the states. That all ended around the late 1970s. Coon on a log was put in the middle of a pond and tethered to the log with a 3 foot or so chain. Object was to release one hound at a time to swim out and try to get the coon off the log. Needless to say, very few times it was done. I saw several dogs drown.

Yeah you should see if you can get that pup we were talking about on some badger! lol. Strangely enough it's LEGAL over here. People use parts and Jagds for small badgers.

Would never dream of doing so seeing as it's not legal in the uk .
