    simms, the dogs are just posted at the beginning of the month for people to enter. toward the end of the month a thread will go up asking for nominations. nominate up to 10 dogs. then the top 10 nominees go into the contest and it's a poll. you just vote for the one you want then. it's around the last week of each month.

    hope that helps explain the contests a little more for you. :)
