Porcupine Problem

Had a 5 mos. old pup(deer hound) run bush and came back at 2am last night with quills in her face, 12 in total, not many, took-em out, , but whats the best antibiotic to use?

I have always been told them quills are pretty dirty, and I've seen nest they make in logs out here, they lye in there own shit them bastards. (got hit mouth /nose area) figure it was a tail swipe.

 

Cephalexin will prolly do the trick

 

I've had numerous run in's with them and I don't usually rub anything on the dog's never had an issue.

 

i just pulled them, and gave tetracycline for the beat up eye balls(from running rabbits, threw the thickets for hours i guess) and 3 days of fish-mox (x2 a day).

and i thought i ordered Cephalexin, but they sent me fish-mox and fish-mox forte,..... and not Cephalexin and fish mox like they was suppose to.

and like Finkle said probably be fine without, but she was pretty young figured wouldn't hurt. :rolleyes:

she looks fine and doing good, was back to normal next night, after sleeping all day.

figured id post and ask , i knew rally racer dealt with this before, but i think he had a lot more quills then the pup did.

next morning she puked up what looked like gofer guts or turtle guts, and a small baby snake. so she must of had a hell of a night!:confused:

 

Geez! Sounds like she had herself a high ole' time! im sure what ya got will be fine for her :-)
