Police Release Details of All About Animals Case

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon Police released details of the "All About Animals" investigation. Three dogs were killed and several were injured during a dog fight at the animal shelter.

The incident happened last week, between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, when volunteers arrived at the shelter and saw the dogs loosed from their kennels and fighting.

Nothing was reportedly stolen from the animal shelter, which is located on Riverside Drive, in Macon.

However, volunteers at the facility said the dogs had been forced to fight. They said the culprits, broke into the front gate of the facility.

Once inside the vandals broke the locks off of nearly 40 dog cages.

Police say it appears that all of the injuries, to the dogs were caused by other dogs.

Linda McClendon has worked for "All About Animals" for six years.

"This is their home, and they want to protect their home, and that's probably what they did," said McClendon. "They're not really fighting dogs, but they are territorial dogs. They love their home."

Macon Police said they are following up on several leads they have in the case. Police say they have found no evidence, to confirm a PETA report, that suspects cut the dogs with sharp objects.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Macon Police at 478-751-7500 or Crimestoppers at 1-877-68- CRIME.
