65-pound Pit bull dragged underwater in canal

KEY LARGO, Fla. -Tyson is being called one brave dog after the 65-pound pit bull was attacked by a crocodile while taking a dip in a canal behind his family's home off Blackwater Lane in Key Largo.

"I see a croc tail going up, turning the water and Tyson going under," said Emilie Stewart, Tyson's owner.

Tyson was pulled underwater, but what the crocodile didn't count on was the pup packing a punch and fighting back.

"I don't know if he actually bit the croc or bit at him, but it freed him up and he started to swim back," said Stewart.

Stewart was quick to call Florida Fish and Wildlife officials, who caught the 5 1/2-foot reptile, which is set to be relocated away from Tyson's neighborhood.

Stewart said she will not allow Tyson to swim in the canal anymore and will be only allowing him to swim in pools.

Unless it's a cold underground spring I would never let any dogs of mine swim in Florida waters.
