Officer shoots, kills pit bull mix

    Davenport, IA -- Officials say a Bettendorf police officer shot and killed a 50-pound dog after it charged the officer.
    It happened last night when police responded to a call that the dog, a pit bull-Rottweiler mix, was loose and attacking another dog.

    Police say when the dog let go of the other dog, it charged at the officer, and the officer shot it.

    The owner of the dog faces misdemeanor charges of dog at large and vicious dog.
