Tacoma, WA -- Tacoma police Monday shot and killed a pit bull that bit one officer in the leg as police were responding to a domestic violence call.

Two officers were dispatched to a home in the 4900 block of Vassault Street at 8:21 p.m. After police arrived, a pit bull came charging from the house and bit one of the officers in the lower leg. The other responding officer shot the dog, police said.

The injured officer was treated at a local hospital for puncture wounds, Fulghum said.
