TN: Metro shelter releasing more dogs from suspected fighting ring

    NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -More of the dogs seized in a north Nashville dog fighting bust are leaving the Metro animal shelter.

    Seventeen of the 28 dogs have been placed with other shelters or Humane Societies in the Northeast.

    Seven of the dogs are leaving Nashville this week, and they're going as far north as Maine.

    One of the dogs that's leaving the shelter this week will have a new life as a therapy dog, working in hospitals and nursing homes.

    What began as a drug trafficking case at a Nashville home turned into a suspected dog fighting investigation with dozens of dogs rescued.
