Lee County Domestic Animal Services is asking for information on the owners of two emaciated pit bulls who were abandoned at the shelter.

The dogs were covered with wounds and scars, according to Ria Brown from LCDAS. One was too weak to stand.

According to surveillance cameras, the male and female dogs were abandoned at 4:15 a.m. by a man described as being 5 feet, 10-inches-tall and wearing an Atlanta Braves baseball cap.

The dogs were discovered around 6:30 a.m.

"The male dog is about 25 pounds underweight and the pressure sores and caked feces on his body would indicate that he has been laying in this condition for days to weeks,” said Nicole Ferguson, DVM.

"The female is about 20 lbs. underweight and possibly pregnant,” she added. Both dogs tested positive for heartworms.

A foster home or adopter may be needed for these dogs to get the care they require to recover.

Anyone who recognizes these dogs or has information regarding their owner is asked to call Animal Services at 533-7387, ext. 2, or contact Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS. Lee County Domestic Animal Services accepts anonymous complaints and information.
