I used to think that we were a Christian Nation as well, until I studied history and our Constitution. George Washingiton once said, "“The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.” All I need do now, though, is look around. I see a divided, schismatic nation in regards to religion. America could be called the land of the 10,000 gods. This nation was built to take power from the Pope and kings, and become a nation of tolerance. Once here, however, Protestants began splitting up, and other religions (Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc.) were created. But to the point, a nation that leads the world in porn, gambling, out of wedlock childbirth rate, prison population, racism, love of money, lying, deceit, etc, may be Christian in name (the non-church goers outnumber church goers), but that is where it ends.

That is just my little of my personal view.
