We have it in Europe and I think it is a good thing because you can get all medical care you need, no matter if you're rich or poor everybody gets the same medical care.

Well, anyone that doesn't want to have health insurance should be put in a mental institute.

Its not the governments job to hand down entitlements to its citizens paid for by others tax dollars, the governments job is to uphold the constitution and defend our nation, not trample our constitution and allow terrorists the same rights as americans... Im all for people getting the best health care possible but not at the expense of other people if you want that cadillac health care plan go out and pay for it dont expect to sit around on your ass and get it handed to you... In America it used to be if you wanted something you worked hard and earned it.... now everyone thinks somethings owed to them, shit keeps getting worse and worse come november americans better wake up and go vote to help stop this shit if not our kids and grand kids will be living under socialism where you dont strive to be the best... just you know, mediocre....

There are some things i like about it, but those few good ideas do not overshadow the fact that the government is forcing you to purchase something you do not need. This is not the answer. And i really don't care what france or other european countries are doing, this is America. Just because something is good for you does not mean it is good for me.

This thing is 2,000 pages long... can anybody that is for this tell me what is in all 2,000 pages? If you don't know what's in those 2,000 pages, how could you support it?

@wardog, I don't want medical insurance and I'm sane. Well, to say I don't want it at all would be an extreme, I don't want it at the cost of losing the ability to say i do not want it, if that makes sense. But I definitely do not need medical insurance, I can pay for my check ups when i need them and I take care of my self. So why should I purchase something that I probably won't use? And why should I be pentalized for not having it?

For all who don't get it or have been listening to radio hacks paid for by the medical and insurance lobbies "America is going broke because of the lack of affordable healthcare."

You are already footing the bill, bud. Every uninsured person who needs to use an emergency room to get primary care because they can't go to a doctor with dignity; every worker who is "out sick," because they or their uninsured child/parent/spouse is unable to get simple, timely care; every untreated treatable illness COSTS YOU MONEY.

Every other developed country has recognized the need for protecting the health of the people within its borders as quickly and economically as possible. Sick people cannot work and contribute to the general welfare. Public health is everybody's concern. Your getting sick and not being able to pay for it affects me. I would rather pay ten cents now to make sure you stay well, or get taken care of quickly, than pay ten thousand dollars over time to treat your chronic ailment......but, maybe that's just me.

The difference is that under the current bullshit system, big pharma/hospital chains/and insurance companies can keep more of their profit while providing less care and taking fewer risks.

Seriouly folks, reciting drivel about how the government is forcing something down the peoples' throats tells everyone who knows anything about the current situation that you've been listening to way too much Rush, haven't read much and really have no idea what you're talking about.

Having more government oversight may not be pleasant to our ears and may not be perfect, but it is a whole lot better than the current system of healtcare run by crooks, shnooks and wall street investors. If you believe that people are doing just fine with the systen as it is, you are a perfect example of why a real public health care. After all taking care of ones mental health care is still health care.

This is not true. You don't have to have it until 2014 and even then if you 2can't afford it you don't have to. They will have a state based program that will help those who need help getting it. It's a great bill if you read some of it's benefits.

Well I have Medicare and while it is a fairly good system it has major flaws, I mean don't get me wrong I like my Medicare but I think that if they can't get something right after it being in service for decades and on a much smaller scale then this is just going to be disastrous.

I also don't like it when nobody can sit down and give you a honest answer as to what it is exactly, Nobody can tell you what is in the bill and what it does exactly. Couple that with out and out jamming it down peoples throats and it makes me quite uneasy.

this is just another step towards socialism...next they'll be telling you you have to buy auto insurance regardless if you own a car or not.

I bet alot of those people you talk about running to the emergency room for treatment and jacking the prices for everyone else cant afford to go to the doctor with dignity because they got lured into that cash for clunkers bullshit and instead of paying for health insurance now they got a $400 a month car note, theres alot of people that just live outside their means... dont bitch about not being able to afford health care when you got cable TV and DSL with a new Toyota sitting in your drive way... instead why dont you live with the shit you need and not the shit you want:eek:
