OH: Dogs Seized, Others Found Dead In Back Yard

COLUMBUS, Ohio -A Franklin County man is facing several charges including cruelty to animals after dogs were found in what are being described by humane agents as deplorable conditions.

A week ago, agents seized 17 dogs from a home on Brentnell Avenue, where they also found two dogs dead in the back yard.

Capital Area Humane Agent Kerry Manion said the dead dogs were found frozen in the back yard, although it's unclear when they died.

"Frozen to the ground like they had been there for an extended period of time, not even able to lift them," Manion said.

The animals were taken to shelters, and charges were filed against the owner, Terry Hicks.

"It's heartbreaking to see how they were kept in these situations, to see the pain and suffering, and the conditions," Manion said.

Hicks is charged with 13 counts of prohibitions concerning animals, and one count each of cruelty to animals, and prohibitions concerning companion animals.

In other cases, he is charged with two counts of prohibitions concerning companion animals, and one count of possessing dangerous ordinance.

I agree, you never know the real story but if it is was it looks like from those pics, that's not right.
