Dogfighting Now a Felony on Guam
Guam - The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), a non-profit organization, backed by nearly 11 million Americans has commended both Acting Governor Mike Cruz for signing legislation that criminalizes dogfighting on Guam into law, and Guam Animals in Need for advocating steep penalties for the crime. In a news release, HSUS Hawaii state director Inga Gibson says the “sick sense of entertainment” will now properly be fought by the Guam Police Department who can “aggressively root dogfighting out from the dark corners where it festers" thanks to the law.

In addition to the deterrent in statute, the HSUS offers up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in animal fighting. For more information on the program, visit humanesociety.org/rewards. The law was introduced and written by Senator Ray Tenorio.
