Dog Lovers Concerned About Pit Bull Ban

Ottawa, Ontario -- Ontario dog lovers are concerned the province-wide ban on pit bulls will orphan thousands of dogs.

The proposed pit bull ban includes a grandfather clause to protect dogs already in the province.

However, it will require those dogs to be muzzled and leashed in public.

A spokeswoman for Advocates for the Underdog says one animal lover in Windsor is relocating the animals to communities more accepting of the breed, after that city banned pit bulls last fall.

Natalie Kemeny calls it an underground railroad of sorts.

A spokesman for the Dog Legislation Council of Canada says efforts are being made to save every single animal before a province-wide ban comes into effect.
