Here is another article on a recent dog fighting bust here in B.R. No only was this guy doing the obvious, but he provided NO care for the dogs, & 7 out of the 30 dogs found, matched descriptions of stolen family pets (apbts) stolen. I knew him from our vet clinic where he brought these sad, pathetic animals in most as puppies for parvo treatment. He didn't seem to care about these animals & even told me that paying to treat them was a waste. "For $150 you can get a new one." he onece stated. Of course, he owes us a lot of money as he used a false name, number, & address.

Kevin Valentine, 41, 11395 Granberry St., was booked into Parish Prison on counts of dog fighting and simple cruelty to animals. Bond was set at $5,000.

Investigators were tipped by the East Baton Rouge Parish Animal Control Center on Dec. 21 that a large number of pit bulls could be found at Valentine's house and were apparently being trained to fight, a State Police news release said.

Two treadmills were found in a storage shed outfitted with dog leashes, the news release said.

Investigators also found paraphernalia used to train fighting dogs, such as ropes, weights and large chains for strength training, the news release said. The animals were taken to the Animal Control Center.

you think? the good news is, is that after the dogs are used as "evidence" we are hoping to get the young ones into rescue for future adoptions. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

  5. that is so sad. you would think that people would have more dignity than that.
