The Guam Legislative Committee on Public Safety is editing and reworking a bill on dogfighting in hopes of getting it onto the floor in the next session.
Bill 266 is a measure that would make dogfighting a felony on Guam. Currently, dogfighting is considered animal abuse, which is a misdemeanor.

Sen. Ray Tenorio, author of the bill, said there was an outpouring from the community on the issue, and no opposition to the measure.
"There was a lot of input given -- dog owners themselves, veterinarians. There's a whole hodgepodge of different issues," Tenorio said. "I haven't spoken to anybody that says I disagree with the bill in its entirety."
