In the late 80's 20/20 did a show on Dogfighting and Pitbulls. They had so called dogmen on there talking about how u train a Pitbull for fighting. They had stories on there about feeding gunpowder, drugging the dogs, and getting the dog to kill a kitten/cats/puppies. After that show a magazine came out and had all the same stuff. Then the shit started.News reports started about attacks on people and pets by Pitbulls. Then Pitbull owners started to get raided and charged with other crimes. This stuff gets ratings.Thats the name of the game for them, money. Some of the problems that dogmen have had in the past is they meet someone that wants to get into the dogs.He seems cool and really likes the dogs, but he makes his money/living dealing drugs. This brings Law Enforcement into the picture. AG groups put pressure on Law Enforcement about look whos involved with raising Pitbulls for fighting these people are the scum of the earth so to speak. Then the shit starts to flow down hill. A lot of people on here don't know me,and thats ok. Be very careful who u associate with.

Yeah, but its some real idiots who do feed dogs gun powder, dope their dogs up, and "bait them" with prey to either kill in hopes of "building confidence". Of course these aren't dogmen, but its good and bad people in all sports. The sad part is that these things are illegal on their own, they don't need a dog fighting charge to charge these people with anything... feeding a dog gun powder is animal cruelty itself. No need to atatch that to the game. Its people who do the same thing for protection, thinkin it will help.

"all purpose war got the rottweilers by the door
and I feed em gun powder, so they can devour
the criminals tryn to drop my decimals" - biggie

The problem is young kids read this shit and think ok this is what I have to do to get my dog to fight. No dogmen do that shit. Now a Dogman is someone that takes care of their dogs ie. walks them, gives them medicine, makes sure they are updated on shots, builds dog houses, cleans up after them ,and a hundred other things in the care of their dogs. The media doesn't print the truth they want ratings=money.

No disrespect, but this revisionist stuff is not only useless, but insulting to one's intelligence. You're probably talking about the Sports Illustrated Issue. I still have that one. Could never got over that photograph. It was so damned ironic; that wicked looking dog with that look in his eye that everyone understood........and the handler holding his chain wearing two different old shoes on his feet....and the picture of the NFL player's fawn AmStaff jumping above the fence inside. I never appreciated how precient those pics were until I came across that mag while moving many years later.

Anyhow, let's not be too hasty when we start casting blame and such. After all, there are some "real-deal, respected" dogmen that did at least some of the ignorant shit you describe and wrote detailed instructions on how to do it.

As for the illegality, didn't you know that at least some of the old-time folks were involved in bootlegging, etc. during prohibition?

So, let's keep it real here. There has always been an element of ignorance in "the game", and always will be until the powers come take the last dogs and shut it down. There have always been dog men who skirted the laws, not just those dealing with dog-fighting. There have always been thugs and hoods in the game willing to collect the winnings with a gun, regardless of whose dog won. So, let's just kill this gentlemen sippin' juleps fantasy and bury it out back with the rest of the dog shit.
Sure there were gentlemen, but then as now, they were outnumbered by the not-as-gentlemanly.

The game has always been, in part, about the money. Let's not fool ourselves or try to fool anyone else. During that time the best, the bets and the bills got bigger. More people than ever wanted in or the party, and many more well-known folks than we would like to admit were willing to hand out all-access invites.

It is damned easy to point to a few rap songs, a few very well publicized incidents in "the projects" and start blaming "those ghetto drug dealers" for all our ills, while conveniently forgetting some of the maulings on some famous yards that didn't quite make the six-o' clock news with quite the same splash and "color." Me, personally, I feel that real-deal dog people, who claim to be able to deal with real-deal dogs should be able to deal with real-deal facts. The facts are that we went through a time in our country's history where excess of all kinds were in vogue.

The biggest circles, the biggest stacks of money, the biggest name and the biggest blocks of blow were what it became about in America and every single aspect of life from TV, to government policy, to fashion to dogs were affected. Then, when the backlash came, like it always does, the super-stars of dogs got caught in the zero-tolerance wave just like the super-stars of rock, fashion and every other excess.

Someone on here wrote something that has stuck in my head since I read it a few weeks ago- look for the fool in your circle and if you can't spot him its probably you. We keep looking out to blame all those ghetto thugs and somehow we can't bring ourselves to say a word about the names who are not only willing to sell to them, but make bets across the line with them.

Ignorant? He wrote rap songs, not dog-care manuals.

Did we start worshipping the devil and sacrificing innocents when the rockers wrote theirs?

    Seriously now.

He was a drug dealer who turned into a famous rapper. But, at the the end of the day, he was still a thug.

    That's why he's dead now.

No disrespect.Ok what I said if read the post is that 20/20 said these where real dogmen.Thats why I said so called dogmen.Read the post under it that I wrote about real dogmen take care of their dogs and don't do this shit. Now AG(animal groups) ,what ever u want to call them I said go to the law and put pressure on them about Dogfighting to basically bust them. They tell them or show them these back alley/basement groups fighting dogs .The cops are like u shitting me we have guys shooting each other and dealing drugs in the street. You (ag) want us to spend our time chasing after these thugs. Well then the AG comes back and shows the cops tapes of drug dealers fighting dogs. Then AG use political connections to put pressure on the cops to do something. So the cops raid places that the AG people give them ,and lot of times good dogmen get busted in this process. The AG kills the dogs. The drug dealers bring heat on everyone. I never read SI issue. There was another magazine that did an article on dog fighting. What I'm saying is that this show on animal planet is nothing new.You watch other things will start to come out again. Its about ratings, and ratings is money. NO DISRESPECT TO ANYONE ON HERE.I JUST HATE TO SEE SOME DOGMEN LOSE THEIR DOGS BECAUSE BS.

I disagree, he was getting money legally and probably not invovled in any kind of violent or criminal activities what so ever... heading towards the movie scene and pinoreering the clothling line trend in hiphop with "brooklyn mint". He was never arrested after his debut album, nor did he respond to any of the media drama surrounding him which eventually killed him in the end. He was more than likely killed by one of Los Angeles's finest, a member of the LAPD... those were the thugs... he was an entertainer and a damn good story teller.

Yes you are right the cops and animal control work with each other! Animal control don't need a search warrant to come on your property, A lot of times they show up at a persons home escorted by police, under the false lie that there afraid of this person and need police backup, But really whats happening is the po po wants to get on your property without a warrant to have a look around!

he used some of his crack money to fund some of his songs. just like jay-z and thats a fact. one of jays lyrics, came in to this mother fcker 100 grand strong ..9 to be exact from grindin g packs. he was sellin crack , then used that money to make records and in turn got rich . but they started 100% funded on drug money and so did the hotboyz and baby

that may be different states i think. theres no way any law official can come on my property in new york without a warrant or i let me plain and simple.

to fund what songs? just because big knew jay doesn't mean their start in the game was the same. Big was on diddy's label, diddy had already been working as a record exec way before he met big. Big never owned his own label, or his own records for that matter. Jay's rise has been well documented and it is common knowledge that he was movin weight before rap and during Reasonable Doubt. The most info that has ever been released about Big after his debut is in that interview for vibe mag when diddy said Ready to die started slow on soundscan and was not moving a lot of units and big was going to head down south and dip into some other alternatives to get money and puff eventually talked him out of it and it never happened.

my bad your actually 100% right. i remember puff talking about that himself as well. and big was like yo im trusting u to make it happen so lets do it. and he didnt go do what he planned .but yea thats how jay is now work 600milion dollars took 1 mil and turned himself into an empire. un believeable
ps reasonable doubt one of the best albums ever made
