Thank you for that wee info. If you doubted he was Red Warriors
littermate then was one or the other of incorrect breeding in your opinion ? Would this be a reason why you only bred him the once.

I thought maybe JT would know how he was bred due to MD having the dog originally. Was he a pure staff in your opinion Ricky ?

 

I dont know if they were littermates , i personally didnt believe they were but they could have been , the reason i didnt breed Bruce more often was that i could find no genuine pedigree for Bruce and the breeding i was told by his previous owners they were unsure about his breeding , thats why he wasnt bred more often though i had a few request for breedings to the dog , he was howevor a very game dog .

I never doubted how Red Warrior was bred but dont believe he was a Champion unless he won two matches in Ireland prior to Dann and GG owning him , maybe he did i do know he won only one in England

 

He was a pure stafford, but came to Ireland without any breeding, its been said he was drown from "Rellim warpaint" but don't know how true that was, he was a very good proven staff

 

Thanks for sharing Ricky, you are a real historian! Nice looking dog too. Have had a few dogs with him lurking far back in their pedigrees.

 

I think "Red warrior" was called Delaney's "Starsky" when in Ireland , and your right he was never matched till he came to UK, I know he was a tested dog before he went but never matched...

The Bruce dog was bred to Mad Molly by her owner Neil who also owned the Joss dog , i got the dog from Barry Stllcoe who was a friend of Neils , they approached me about a stud for Molly and i told them to use Bruce , they got the dog of PM bred him to Molly , then a few weeks later i got Bruce from them and owned him till his death a few years later

 

bruce was a fine looking stafford what size and weight was he.

The Bruce dog was a 443lb dog when fit howevor i never really stripped him down as he was a old dog , he hadnt a single tooth in his head they were all worn down with chain/kennel fighting and badger work and he was fight crazy with anything from pups bitches or anything with fur on , he was howvor great with people . The Hopcrofts Bess bitch or Red Dart of Asquith was from what im told a game bitch howevor she did produe some good dogs and great looking dogs .

 

Not 100% sure but did "Red dart of asquit" stop in a match against IG's "Jesse"...there is a match report some where , think it went 1hr 28minutes, this was back in 1984

 

The bitch Hopcrofts Bess or Red Dart of Asquith was never matched her owner TH didnt match dogs but bred a few litters from the bitch , the IG Jess the losing bitch was owned by JC and was a 3 x winner , IG got his bitch from Harperhey dog pound the same place he got Tosca think they both died after .

 

My apogies the bitches names should be IG Bess v JC Jess the rest of the posting is correct
