yeah i had my shit slam fire, it was stuck that way. but after takin my shit apart it was an easy fix. my firing pin was just stuck. a litle part of the pin was sticking forward so whenever the bolt slams its gonna fire. alot of em do it cuz the pin rusts and doesnt retreat after u fire a round. but it isnt a problem for me. i never had it happen after that, i just thoroughly check my weapon before i use it.

the problem with slam fire, is folks get scared, and turn towards other shooters on the line while their gun is basiclly in full auto mode. bye-bye buddies. it happens outta confusion and shock

I've actually had to come down to that decision recently, I like both, but my one 1960 870 Remy I'll never part with! It's got HISTORY! was A patrol gun back in the day! Mossberg 500's are great guns I have a few sittin in the pawnshop A 12, 20, and a 410 persuader, also two 870's a 20, and a 410 that I need to go pay the interest on soon! But I kept my Remy 12 at home by my bed where it belongs!

Hell Yeah!!! That's right Woody. For that kinda loot. Thompson all the way. It's heavy but ooh the nostalgia and history behind that weapon is worth lugging 12lbs around.

Woody D, I like the way you rationalize.

I missed the last gun show down here, I've been looking to pickup a stamped receiver to complete my next AK build. I "assembled " an AMD-65 (Hungarian version) a few years back and have been itching to get another one.... I need to complete my assault rifle scavenger hunt before it dries up.

I would like to add a Sig 556 to the mix and maybe a Double Stack 1911, don't know if I'd go Para Ordinance or put one together from the Brownell catalog.

my only beef with the saiga vs my 870s is you cant shoot bean bag loads, or less recoil loads. they wont cycle the action, so youre essentially left with a single shot. loaded with 00 Buckshot, hell yeah, they are beasts. i guess im old school, love me my pumps, thats all;)

I've had a Mossberg and didn't really care for it.My choice in pump shotguns are Rem 870 or Ithaca 37.I have both and they work great. The Mossberg just ddn't do it for me.

I would try and stay practical since more than likely that is what your going to need.

I don't mean to be a party pooper but I have to say it, If your gun needs are met from a usability standpoint what I would do is focus on gathering as much ammunition, Cleaning gear, Handloading equipment and repair parts and gear as I could get my hands on. Those are going to be the things that are going to be what your going to need over more guns.

But if you don't already have one you never can go wrong with a good 45/70 rifle, Very good round in my opinion and the rifles used to be very well built and always a great addition to your collection. I have maintained if I had to have one gun to put meat on the table it would be my 45/70 rifle.
