Yes KM was a Very Good producer a high percentage producer that passed his traits on and they continue still. A pleasure to be around and a lover of kids.

 

Yes he did as many due some for the better some for the worst some for one reason some for another and depending on the topic n mood He was the Same as he was different then when younger as we All are. I guess it dross on what one was after that we would place such judgement on. Personally He was respectful Helpful blunt and op about a lot even if it was not always good. I miss my times with him that's for sure but As I was then I am now glad I had the time and was able to learn from him and many others that were are like him.

Somebody still explain to me how the line should be referred to as Mayfield dogs? At what point down the line do they become Boudreaux dogs regardless of the beginning. I mean if that's the case, they aren't Boudreux or Mayfield dogs,there Tudor dogs.... Or we could go back even further.

 

How I evaluate Mayfield is he had an understanding that most didnt...

He had alot of great attributes and perhaps some bad,,, A MAN...

Mayfield also had issues with the "MORMANS" in greenwood who published some of Mayfields stories and changed them to their liking...
Well a couple years later Mayfield sent the Greenwoods a letter about the dog named DAVIS they got from Don Maloney...

In typical Ralph greenwood fasion we ignored him for a couple years and finaly responded that he bought DAVIS
because he was a bulldog and not because how he was bred...

Davis sire was said to be a red dog bought by Maloney from a coon hunter for $15 of unknown breeding
and rolled to almost death a number of times when a man named C.Addikson made the breeding to game red dog
and raised and schooled DAVIS out and let Maloney match him and R.Greenwood liked what he saw and bought DAVIS...
As far as I know the Greenwoods never acknowleged it or denied it for that matter and Addikson might still be alive to verify his story...

Mayfield also said SNOOTY was of false breeding but Im not sure how he thought the dog was bred...

Mayfield waited till Carver passed to share his thoughts and rumors about him but was said to be terrified of Maurice when he was alive
and never said a peep...

Both Carver and Boudreax' where known as the top breeders of Mayfields time and a bit of jealousy seemed fitting
as Mayfields mentor Tudor felt the same way in his latter days in that both Con Feeley and Shipley were the "BIG SHOTS"
that got all the breeding recognition...

Well Tudor is now recognized as being the most influenctal breeder since John Colby,,,
and Carver was the next predecessor and Boudreaux' ranked up there not far behind...

Mayfields name isnt as big in the breeding catagory as far as todays irrelevance but lets not forget the Hank dog that sired...

I think Mayfield bred some worthy dogs even in his latter days and had some very interesting breeding theories if you read his book...
He kept them very tightly bred and culled very hard,,, in theory this practice should make for the purist truest game dog family alive...

I dont think his family has made the impact as much as it should have but Mayfield shoud be recognized for his accomplisments as whole,,,
he was fairly complete from changing keeps and drying dogs out to the level of competition and bulldogs he brought...

Some worthy mentionables of Mayfield early days were the Lightning dog tha lost game to one of the all time best Tudors ch Spike...

Depending on your beliefs most think Mayfielsd is racist but he didnt name the dog and if we can get over his name,,,
we recognize his producing ability...

I believe Mayfield didnt like the fact N!#### dog was a cur and made it his priority to cull hard as he bred them very tight...

Some of the Jackson/Mayfield dogs were said to be rank curs and maybe so,,,
but I think this family was in dire need of some other blood and when the Redboy and Jocko lines were crossed
and linked up for one of the gamest lines of modern times...

So Mayfield N dog was what is best known for but dont let that name mask the producing abilities of dogs such a Pit General,,,
and beat some of the best and lost to some also and always brought a top dog and changed conditioning to the point of
anybody whos anybody in the southern states use today ...

MR. MAYFIELD wasnt only TUDORS understudy but he also wrote what I consider the best piece of bulldog literature,,,
"THE OKLAHOMA KID" about TUDOR...

You add all Mayfield did for the gamedogs and there is not many on that level and yes I respect and praise him for that,,,
