So given the option you would take a SK over a AK if you was in a gun battle?

 

I like the SKS better than the AK in pretty much all aspects. Only time I would prefer an AK is in close range with a lot of targets. Anything more than 50 yards I'll take the SKS

Nice, I don't doubt that the AK's can be as accurate. Just one of those personal preference things I geuss. SKS just has more of a rifle feel too me, something about the way I hold the AK just makes me wanna spray bullets! Lol

Sk's are good rifles, I own both AK and SK. 1954 Russian SK and a Russian Kalashnicov AK pre ban. Id have to say the AK is a far better rifle and far better made. Reliability is way better aswell. But if all I had was my SK in a gun fight, Id feel just as good about it. Have you seen the bull pup conversion kits for SK's? And I will throw something out there surprisingly not a lot of people know or realize but the cleaning kit is in the butt stock of the SK. Yall may know but a lot of people don't. You would think so...

 

Yeah I've seen just about everything imaginable done to the SKS! Most of mine the only thing that has been done is mods to make different mags fit. I've got two 54 Tula refurbs, 53 Izzy refurb but my pride and joy is the 51 Tula that hasn't been refurbed, all numbers matching on it.

Yea those can fetch a premium. Prolly $600 or better based on condition. Mines matching numbers to. You got a black bolt or stainless bolt? The stainless bolts are a little more scarce.

 

Bolt is stainless, didn't know that was rare I just figured since it wasn't refurbed it was stainless. I thought about selling her a few times, figured it's best to hang on to all guns like that, never know the way this govt works they may be banned soon

Well, Russian firearms and Ammo have been banned by Obama. So Id hold onto it. No more will be coming over here. Value will only go up.

I hgave only shot an SKS once and I did like it. I am just getting into firearms, but considering you can get an SKS for a lot cheaper than an AK, it may be my next rifle if the price is right. Also have the XDM .40. They just released the subcompact, probably trade up sooner than later!
