actually apple cider vinegar is to keep lactic acid down in the muscles. The amino acids in the apple cider vinegar can help neutralize the build-up of lactic acid in the bloodstream that occurs after exercise and stress.

To say your the best at shaping a dog is funny to say the least. In the 80's I started with a good kibble, dog bloom, gizzards and spinach until I learned about proper supplementation and how to work them into a schedule. With so many factors to consider you cant properly condition a dog in a week and a half, its a gradual process.[/quote]
Learn how to read! than we can talk . i never said i was the best , just one of the best. step up! LIke I said if it works for u than great but dont sit here and tell me what i do is not enough.

  5. I use blue buffalo (salmon mix for omegas) , cooked egg( we all know they're raw protein), and some raw steak... seems to work pretty well for me. Oh and the raw egg cuts back on the dander in the dogs coat, at least thats what i think lol...

Everyone has different methods of feeding and conditioning.I learned from a guy that basically used Armitages methods of conditioning on a treadmill by adding minutes till he peaked around 45 minutes and the hand walking was done in minutes not miles. Some days he would have the dog run by his truck. His partners didn't know how he condition their dogs and they wouldn't tell each other their own methods(now these guys had gr.chs. and chs) it worked for them.Feeding back then was like proplan with raw meat, red cell, and some other additives.Talking about Mayfield, Danny said he was the best he ever seen, and that Mayfield won with dogs that was just plain conditioned better then the other dog, that if u don't beat Mayfield in 30 mintes or less forget it.Danny also said u can work the dog but let me feed them.Nutrition has come a long way since my days in the dogs.Someone mention a method of working your dog ,is it the Maf method. It sounds like it.Maf believed in not overworking a dog, using less workouts to obtain the same results and u will have a well rested dog.I know that it has been posted that guys would say he looked so much better off the chain then when I conditioned him.Thats so simple thats because the dog was over trained.Ozzie and STP was some of the best conditioners of their time also. I was never that smart so I kept my conditioning and feeding very simple.

Each person conditions and feeds different even guys that have learned from the same mentor. Some methods work for some, and not others. If it works for u ,u should stay with it.But u should also strive to improve on what u have. What worked for me was a simple approach of kibble and raw food with a couple of supplements.Conditioning was the same.I started out with running a dog on a mill, a lot of hand walking, and flirtpole work, and that was it. I later on learned to put rest days in,I used rest days to keep a dog fresh, and strong.I tried alot of methods and I liked a basic simple method.I was very careful not to overwork a dog.I also would be very careful with their pads.I know some think this sounds like a joke. But if a dog tears a pad it could take a week or so to heal right.I did once and I had to swim a dog for the rest of the keep.We learn from our mistakes and others as well.Feeding was something that always wanted to learn about, even today.

now you said that, i was watching a documentary on iditarod sled dog race, and many times people were giving snacks that were plain fat.

also, was reading in hammonds book, a lot of negative stuff on high-protein foods. and it does make wonder sometimes if the high protein thing is realy deeded or it's just marketing that make as pay too high priced kibbles.

i suppose in a keep you need that(?)

protein as a source of energy can be used in humans too. if you eat a lot of it, and few carbs and fat, the body will use up the excess protein for fuel. but protein, as a source of energy, is a very expensive one as compared to fat.

can you give your views on this please?

teras, fat is a slow burning energy source.... plz excuse my crap english

so i dont see why they would give it as a snack in a race. depends on the the distance.
for a long distance this will be good, maybe. but carbohydrates would be better for direct energy during the race i think

what was written exactly about high protein food in the book of hammonds?
