Since you are not concerned with maximum production in least amount of time I would say that an echo would be cheaper for the purpose, but I think the ms193 matches about even in price.

I looked at weight to.Didnt want a real heavy saw which is another reason I got the 271.its a 50 cc saw and plenty big enough to get the job done for me.Not extremely heavy but just about right .If I made my living cutting tree's I would actually have 3 saws.Big , med, and a small .Big saws just to big for small to med size jobs and no use in making it harder on your back.I actually work for a John Deere dealership andwe deal in skidders, cutters, loaders, doziers, chippers etc.No farm tractors.I talk to alot of professional loggers on a daily basis.I could actually quit my job tomorrow and go to work for a number of them. But I listen to what they tell me and all said don't get a saw bigger than what you need it for.

Same here. A buddy of mine logs and does tree removal. He storm chases for tree clean up as well. He recommended the Jonsered I have now. Not too big and not too small as I am not making a living with the saw. Sort of like no one would use a framing hammer to build bird houses.

He too has several saws on the truck, matching size to the job.

My Jonsered does all I need and may be a little larger than what I actually need. A just in case type thing.

It is actually the first chain saw I ever purchased. Growing up it was my Pops' saws and then after moving here it was my father-in-laws saws. So far so good.

I do see your point Babel and its a good one.I just don't cut enough to justify comercial grade. And I feel the saw I bought will last me.I'm 47 .

Grew up with a wood stove n if it's my way I'll die living somewhere with one. All the preparation and work makes it something special about that fire heating your home.

Never thought about the tire. Brilliant.

That axe is something else. It beats the shit out of the maul and wedge we used back then.

Nice fire rim. Ours is the tub from an old washing machine. The perforated drum really breathes.

Semi rim slim and I welded a brake drum to the bottom to get it off the ground.it sits on a concrete slab which was my old carport.Use to have a house trailor here and I built a house behind it.Carport slab is where I have my wood and my fire rim. This summer I am gone build some metal racks for my firewood, I can get the wood off the ground and blow the leaves out from under the wood with my blower .it will be nice when I'm finished.
