aries the signs you have up about your dog will get you in trouble . putting up the sign means you know what your dog will do and they will use that . i know you want to be safe but a bulldog is not the best bet .

Really? I've never had a problem with them in the past. It's required here. If you have a dog in your yard you have to have the signs up.

Goat, that sign thing with the law.......its only really half true. If its its an incidint that even goes to court, when your in defense you explain the definition of the sign. For instance "beware of dog“. Beware doesnt really mean be affraid or even cautious. But rather "be aware“ also known as “be knowing“.
“JUST SO U KNOW WE GOTTA DOG BACK THERE”.

A lot of folks are afraid of dogs.

As far as the sign goes i wouldnt get a beware of dog sign, i wouls get a "dog on premises“ one instead, makes folks aware without anychance of incrimination

Ah. I was told that if you didn't have the signs up, and your dog did bite you'd have a hefty fine and you would be at risk of losing your dog. I don't want that. hence the signs :p

And Goat I wasn't implying you were being smart sorry if it came out that way. It's hard to translate text into speech sometimes.

I have seen a few APBT that were trained for bite work. But the thing they all had in common was they were all equipment happy! What I mean by that is they are not aggressive to man, they have just come to see the bite sleeve as the object of their desire. That is their favorite toy and they want nothing more than the opportunity (or the command) to grab that sleeve and shake it! So if you're the decoy wearing that sleeve, the dog is going to want to come bite it! But that is keying in on the high prey drive (making the prey in this case the sleeve), and this breed's love for a good game of tug-o-war! I'm sure if the decoy screamed in pain like a girl one of these dogs would cease the biting and shaking of the sleeve and lick his face to make sure he wasn't hurt lol.

It's not in the APBT's nature to show aggression and suspicion towards man. For the most part they have been bred away from that trait. There are other breeds which are specifically bred to serve as guard dogs, and they will gladly take a bite of an unwelcome stranger who ventures into their yard. You will be far more successful in defending your property with a dog that doesn't have a natural tendency that is opposite of the behavior you want.

I know for a fact that you could also teach an APBT to gently herd livestock. But you'd hafta backpedal several hundred years to finally teach him not to bite the animals! A border collie on the other hand will try to herd the neighborhood kids as they ride by on their bikes! Haha. I hope what I've said influences you.

well i don't know the law in your state . but i can bet it's the same . beware of dog signs in my state means you know what the dog will do . back in the early 80's when all this stuff started to happen with insurance .i ask my lawyer what he thought . and that's what he told me and you will see people still today getting in trouble when the dog bites . if it gets loose and bites . you have the sign that says you know what would happen .

so so true get a damn no trespassing sign only and please take the advice given and use another dog to protect your yard

  18. For Pete's sake please dig your head out of your rectum and learn a little something about the breed. Get a breed for guardian work if that's what you want.

welllllll you come on here posting "attack dog" (which is not even the correct wording IMO) and you should expect some of their answers to you lol.

if you want ah dog that actually knows how to protect a yard, im sure alot of people here can point you in the right direction. but even excluding my opinion on the matter along with BSL etc, dont you think its a little silly to try to use an APBT for pp? thad be like taking a bird dog and using it as a catch dog, when you could VERY easily just get a catch dog an save yourself the trouble of wasting your time.
