Who Use AI with there Stud

I have a male That will not Breed for shit, I have done it all. I have to AI this dog and was thinking why more people don't do it , I mean if there bitch has something there is no way to infect the male. And most vets will do it fairly cheap if you cant do it. I guess I am asking has any one had good results with it? I know the fairy tail about AI dont make hardy offspring , I just cant see how that makes a shit in anything , sperm + egg = pups how can it matter if a dick put it there or a straw did.

 

I wonder the same thing about an inferior animal being produced. I have a female, bitch in my avatar that I can't get bred cuz the bitch turns like a rotisserie chicken in a breeding stand to hit the male. Gonna try to breed her on the 7th and we're preparing to possibly have to do A.I. I've thought about doping her up a little bit to mellow her ass out for 30 minutes or so but if she don't cooperate we might just try A.I.
I would think more people would do it to if your breeding off your yard but I've always heard about them producing less Hardy as you put it but they never offer any real facts when they say that. I'm interested in hearing others opinions or experience with A.I myself.

 

I've done it several times no worries the pups come out the same at least for me anyway no problems with weak pups.......

 

AI is the best way to go if you can. dont have to stand out in the yard for 40 minute ties or deal with aggressive males/bitches

 

Hey J have you tried hitting him with a few cc's of dex b4 you tried to breed him. We had a fight crazy male that we had to do that to so we could get him bred.

 

i had a female tht was aggressive. we had to ai her came out with 7 pups all healthy ai is tha best way to go usually $40 at tha vet

There are also semen banks that have trained technicians who collect (jerk-off) dogs. If it is timed just right, they can collect the dog and then insert into the bitch, and after holding her upside-down for a while so that the semen is channeled deeper, the deed is done. For bitches that will not allow a male to breed them, this is a fairly common choice. Vets can do it too of course. It gets much more complicated when a dog is collected and the semen frozen for future use. They need to specially prepare the semen, and then the AI is often done surgically. It is also much more expensive.

I have heard some people suggest that if a dog is only collected artifically, and never breeds naturally, he may not know what to do if he ever gets the chance for natural breeding.

helped a few people out over the years doing AI for them when having trouble getting the dogs mated. very easy to do

 

I have done it a few times with no problems,theres a sperm bank in P.A that collects it and does the insemination by surgery and puts the sperm directly on the eggs bc the sperm in the frozen state looses stamina and some times are not able to make the journey to the eggs.It's a little pricey but garunteed

 

Hold on, there is no holding them upside down. Just make sure you do it trans cervical.

I have used AI multiple times.

There is a big difference between doing an AI yourself, with live (or chilled) semen you just collected ... and paying a vet to do a surgical breeding directly into the ovaries (usually involving frozen semen).

AI breedings with freshly-collected semen are easy to do, are quicker/cleaner than most vaginal breedings, and have the exact same chance of resulting in pups.

Well if you have done it then you know to centerfuse (ms hurried) it and use extender.
Don't forget to use a scope to make sure you go through the cervic

Anyone got a link for A.I kits ( my vets here wont give them up) or better yet, what can I use on the end of a syringe to insert into the female? I work in an O.R so im sure i cant find something to work, could I use cut down IV tubing instead of a glass pipette?

 

You can do AI from home and order AI kits from Amazon.com once you get past the childish taboo of having to give a dog a tug its a great way to get breedings done between high performance, high strung animals.
