Famous Fighting Dogs of Staffordshire Imported To America (1908)

    Adverts from (1908) Adverts featured in The Dog Fancier Magazine.
    Rochester Kennels of NYC Importers of dogs from England labelling them "Famous Staffordshires, the greatest fighting dogs England."
    And stating "This is a great chance to thoroughly infuse into the American dog the new blood to preserve the stamina of his great ancestors".

    Another Advert from The Same Year advertising dogs imported direct from Staffordshire England with the tagline "The greatest fighting dogs on earth".

    Another advert claiming to have the only Blue Paul in America, a 36lb dog called Sky Ball son of the Blue dog the greatest dog ever pitted in England.

    great addition!!!

    Those have to be the same folks Armitage mentions in his book as being top competitors of the early part of the twentieth century...

    White demon & Bob the Fool are also in that book if I remember correctly...

    Alot to be said for the depth of the adds right down to the Rochester harness $5 and Rochester Salve $1!!!

    Later in that same year there is an advert where the Rochester Kennels is consolidated with J R Wilcox buying out Bert Caire's share.

    Lots of adverts from very busy breeders at the time such as Schofield and Bowser who were importing and had a kennel together (Bowser wrote a book), Corcoran was importing (book and also sold dog remedies), F.G. Henry (book also) as well as advertising over a 100 pups for sale, Delihant,

    White Demon is mentioned in one of those adverts above and advertised with a photo. There was also British Demon imported around that time.
