What can i do

Hey guys. I had my insurance company come out and do a claim on my house due to hail damage. Well They said they will get back with me. Well I get a call from the insurance company which is state farm. They tell me If I dont get rid of my apbt That they will cancel my insurance. What can i do.

 

ask them why they didnt make this clear with you when you bought the policy,as a rule all agencys' ask what kind of dog you have if you tell them you have dogs.if they didnt make it clear that you could not have pits when you bought the policy then it is not your fault.

 

ouch, try asking if they'll give a break if you get CGC certificate.

 

like they said, and also i'd prolly start lookin around for other insurance company, or either lie and say you got rid of the dog

 

find another insurance company....

State Farm is telling you that you have to get rid of your dog?! I would definitely call and talk to someone (not the jerk who came to your house) b/c I thought State Farm did not disqualify you based on your dogs' breed. That's the insurance company I go through, and I specifically asked. All they wanted to know was if I had a dog, and how many I had.

 

I also have State Farm and, in CT, it's a law that they cannot discriminate based on breed. However, this does vary from state to state.

 

Ah, um, yeah my bad. I didn't see where it said State Farm in the first post. I would question that heavily. State Farm's policy is generally not breed-specific, except in places that have BSL. (Like I don't think they insure APBTs in Ohio.)

 

stash the dog somewhere for a while get the damages fixed...look for another insurance company and so on lol
