stupid people question

Here is a question I have been meaning to ask for a while. Do people aregue with you when your are walking your pits that it can't be purebred because of its size? Sweetie is 47lbs, and a beautifull pit bull. Now she is a rescue, taken off death row so there is no way of knowing if she is purebred, but I certainly think she looks pure, and definately looks like a well bred game dog. But people say she can't be a pit bull because she is so small, they know ones 'yay tall' and like 'my buddies pure pit is 100lbs', which I know is all bull. I try to explain to people that she is actually on the larger size for what a pit bull should be ladida. And that years ago they didn't ever get much bigger than her.
Anyways, just wondering if other people run into stupid people like this?

 

Yep. They're brainwashed. And the more try to educate them, the worse they seem to get.

 

All the time. You should see what happens when I walk the 27 pounder around! It comes with the territory of owning this breed - the public's ignorance and gullibility.

 

Happens nearly everyday my dogs are in public view. I ask them a little bit about what they know about the history of the APBT, famous dogs and when they are completely stumped and stuck at "The oldest dog I am familiar with is Gotti!" they tend to listen and understand I know a little bit more about this breed than them. At that point, I ask them what the standard reads, and how common were big dogs back in the day and I get a puzzled look usually. From there, I give a little information about bandogges and ask if its common knowledge to them that the ADBA knowingly let some breeders mix in Mastiffs for weight-pulling. Finally, I ask if its a coincidence that most of these big freak dogs come off yards that had other, larger, "pit-bull looking" breeds on hand.


Then of course, there is always those who "Well, I know she is pure because she is a solid blue nose and a pure bred pitt is a solid color...but brindle pitts are mixed". LOL Depending on the level of ignorance and closed-mindedness I encounter, sometimes I bother going into genetics...and sometimes I dont.

Finally, the "Well I have papers on my dog!" arguement comes into play, and I will ask them if they knew how easy it is to hang papers on a dog. There was also one person I offered to wager $100, plus whatever my cost to register would be that I could get my English Mastiff papers that said she was one of them "pure bread pitts".

 

yep all the time where i live like i stated in my frist post people only think they know off to bloodlines red a blue noes even thoe thows arent bloodlines but thats what peopl think around here at least its the sad truth

 

i always get in san francisco that my dogs WAY too skinny and that i need to bulk him up so that he can get strong and have more stamina. that also goes with the "put gunpowder in his feed" and the "give him raw blood to make him mean" line. i get mad advice like that from others. size is ALL anyone cares about here. it's truly sad.

 

I live near San Fransico and all I see out here where I stay is the bulky pit bulls. Putting all of that in a dogs food is stupid and when you do that it doesn't make the dog mean, it makes them stupid.

 

yes and it drives me nuts!!! I get that question all the time no one seems to know what a abpt is. And because of it they get blamed for attacks that are from other breeds.

 

I get that a lot. Rather than people thinking my dog isn't pure, they think he is a puppy. Kind of odd since he's about 11. Then I give them the whole rap on how 40-45 lb.s is "classic" size.

 

i had the same thing happen to me ,this cat tried to tell me killer wasnt pure pitt but killers brother was ,,he didnt know they came from the same litter,,oh,,he knew cuz he has 4 pitts back home in arizona,funny thing though,,i sold him some high grade oregano and he was blazed,people are reeeeeeeeeaally stupid

 

Lmao...wow...didn't know oregano was so valuable. I've got like 3-4 jars of it around here. I'm probably sitting on a gold mine...lol

 

Well, I had that problem for about all of 2 min when i lived in SF and VA. San Francisco people are just lost on the whole breed. They are the people who love to sit around and argue till they are blue in the face. In my case, I am known quite well in a certain area and people knew my dogs. So I didnt get alot of arguements. As for VA. Everyone in VA has one of those BEAUTIFUL EDGE DOGS.........LOL.......And they all buy into the BS that the breeder told them, so they all thing that a "Real" APBT should look like that crap. Well, some people learn their lesson and some dont. Remember that it is all a fad. and fads always die out. APBTs are a legend, and the true dogman and true to the breed people will always know the truth. When someone says something ignorant like, "Thats not pure breed, its not big enough", just take the time out to educate them on the real breed, and ask them if they would like to become educated. If they say yes. Invite them to this site. Maybe we can turn some "Bad Apples" into some decent people.

stuff ive been told before ...."oooohhh you fight dogs","do you want to fight your dog","how many dogs has your dog killed","not a pit cuz it dont get a rednose","Too Small","head 2 small".....

 

we were told that we had waisted our money, we bought a "lab", LOL. i've had people say that there was no way my 32 pounder was purebred, and that he was mixed with a boston terrier...

 

ooo and "her nose is not short enought...they are relitives of the English bulldog and pit bulls are supposed to have pugged noses 2" lmao thats my fav i hear it almost every time ppl DO see my dogs..i keep them in the country for security reasons lol

 

Hahaha, well so far stopping everyone with a pit bull in the last few years, I have only met 2 registered pits (owned by the same person) in my area. Everyone has a 'texas red nose'(that ones a REAL winner) or a blue or bred from some buddy down the road. Nobody would know even know what a razors edge or gotti dog is, they aren't even smart enough for that. Just that a pit should be 100lbs and real tall, like up to your arm pit man lol.

 

yep I get that crap all the Time . Bane is 52 pounds so he just "cant" be pure cause such and such's male is 120lbs. I just roll my eyes and say yeah ok

 

As many of these giant pit bulls are getting bred, they are out numbering real Apbt's. Real dog men take the time to see if their dogs are worthy of being bred which takes time, while other regular ass people are just breeding anything and everything all the damn time back to back to back and calling it a APBT. This BS is really pissin me off and I can't stand it. WHat are we going to do because we are fighting against all these backyard breeders and we are loosing fellas.

 

Well, hopefully the whole "American Bully" name will be adopted by all these Gotti/Edge guys thru the "Bully Kennel Club" ....and THAT will be the thing to do. Maybe they'll stop using the ADBA/UKC to register their dogs and confine themselves only to the hippo-friendly BKC. One can only hope.
