Well it sure didn't seem like the dog was trying too hard to attack in the beginning. Just kinda half heartedly chasing the child. But irregardless, what the hell was the owner doing? If that had been one of my dogs (not likely) me and that dog would have some real issues on the spot. I'd be right in there catching or breaking that dog off.

The quality of the movie is so bad that I can't even tell if it's a pit bull or not. So we have an owner of 2 dogs, both who are not leashed, and a police officer who can't seem to move any faster than a snail. The young boy was doing better by himself than when he was being helped. I saw no actual bites so I can't say a word about that. The drama music and the voice of the announcer was enough to irritate the bejesus outta me. Why would the cop pull the boy from behind someone where he was safe, right into the path of a "raging pitbull". To much.

Is it just my comp or was everyone else's video that bad of quality?

Deffinatley not what we needed. That video was played by the city of Detroit over and over again when they were trying to get Pits banned. That cop should have shot the idiot owner as well.

I agree with lockjaw. One shot to the skillet and all is taken care of. Even if it were my own dog.

I also think I saw that on good animals gone wild or something like that. It' just ridiculos and that's all I can say about it.

This is what I got from it. At first the DOGS didn't even seem to be "attacking" they seemed to be just chasing the first boy around. Thats probably when people started going hysterical and got the dogs pumped up. I think the only time the dog bit was when the boy was around his owner. Which gives the dog no right but everyone knows these dogs are protective of their owners. If these dogs wanted to attack the first boy they would of done so when he stopped running they were RIGHT by him and they looked like they were playing. The owner didn't have these dogs on leashes and I didn't see the red dog actually do anything. The sound effects of the dogs barking makes it seem A LOT worse than what it was. Because the dogs were not barking you could tell. After the dog got shot he looked like he was just trying to make it to his owner. They should be put down and she should never own dogs PERIOD. What is up with the guy just standing there with the wife beater on why didn't he do anything.

  11. Looks realy not like a true atak to me.....if a dog like this ataks he get a got hold in the first 5 sec. and then he would shake. That looks like playing to me...However...I dont understand this owner...what does he do...? Looks like he is not able to handle his dogs.

  12. .............he get a good hold...not got hold...lol :)

The way the dog acted was because, the owner just stood there. The cop acted like he was in stupid shock. I don't know what to say, it could have been worse.

If the dog had really wanted to get ahold of the kid, he would have. You can't outrun the dog like that. To me it looked like the dog had started with a fun game of chase. The dog got overexcited and grabbed the kid. The way the officer kept pulling the kid away looked just like a game of tug-of-war. He was essentially teasing the dog with a small child. If the kid had just stopped and stood still in the first place, the dog would probably have come up to him to be petted. Maybe it's just me, but until the officer got there and started to swing the kid around, I didn't see any sort of aggression out of those pits beyond the game of chase that many people tend to play with their dogs. Did you notice when the dog turned after the younger kid, the dog turned out wide. Also, when the dog started jumping on the kid before he reached the officer, you'd think he'd bite at him. He just jumps on the kid like he wants to play. The whole ordeal was really screwed up.

What was that song by Dying Fetus? One Shot, One Kill? I think that applies here. Sadly, these things happen almost everyday. It is the product of bad breeding, bad owners, and cops who shouldn't be cops.

However, that certainly didn't look like any attack to me. My dog will chase you and nip at your pants, and to an uninformed moron, it can look like an attack. I was in front of my house playing around with my two dogs one day. I would run and my female would jump up on me. Someone actually came barreling out of their car screaming for someone to help this "poor kid being attacked".

The dog looks soo non aggresive. I think he just wanted to play and would'nt take no for an answer.

I dont really think in this case we should try to make an excuse for the dog. The dog wasnt under control and wouldnt stop. The owners should definately be held accountable and the dog should have been put down.

That clip is almost too unbearable to watch. There are too many things wrong with it. First: as was pointed out, the sound effects were a little rediculous; the repeating loop of "snarling dogs." Just another way to increase the drama.
The owner had no business in public with dogs she obviously couldn't handle. She should have been grabbing up the dog instead of the child.
I may have been a bit reluctant to shoot the dog myself, had I been in the cop's position. It did, at first, look more like play than an actual attack. Show me a dog that won't playfully chase someone who takes off running and screaming, and I'll show you a dog on Prozac. The dog may very well have bitten in defense of its owner after the screaming child grasped onto her.

Who knows? It's not like we can ask the dog what it was thinking, and it wouldn't matter anyway.

Whatever the case, if I have a 9mm and no breaking stick when a dog has a hold of a child's leg, it's getting 5 or 6 quick ones to the head. It's impossible to tell though, whether the dog actually has a grip on the kid's leg, or the fabric of his jeans.

  20. I just saw the video. IMHO, the stupid dog was not really attacking. I feel it was more of a "game" than a true attack. The dog was not going full charge (It was more like taking its time).

What can we all learn from this (I am assuming this is the reason it was posted)?

Socialize dogs- this means more than just take it outside once in a while. A dog in an urban setting should undertand "kids at play" and that they (kids) are not toys. In addition, a dog (urban setting) should be tolerant (by teaching) of ear and tail pulling, poking, hitting, high pitch noises, running around it, stepping on it, running towards owner, etc.

The fact that our dogs are people friendly (most of them) does not mean we as owners should not train them to understand people behavior. The lack of understanding of "people behavior" is what gets our dogs killed 8 out of 10 times (in urban settings).

So sad, this kid will have a very hard time trusting dogs now. If only one of us was there *sigh*
