Great danes scare me. I used to deliver pizza and this one time, I had this delivery to this house with a HUGE front yard. There was no door bell or anything, so I opened the gate and starting walking towards the house. It was at night. There was a light on, and the next the thing I see was a bunch of big shadows approaching me. I was like "OH SH***" There was about 20 or more Great Danes fully grown in my face growling. I kept calm and I kind of yelled out PIZZA, then the owner came out and said she was suprised how brave I was. I wouldnt have went in if I known there were dogs inside. All that for $1 tip. sad!

Yup, I have to agree with this as well.

The breed I'm most cautious around is the Wheaton Terrier -- I've yet to meet one that isn't mentally unstable. A few years ago when I was still grooming, one of the male groomers was attacked with no warning by a Wheaton and ended up with multiple stitches in his hip and leg.

  5. I am not scare of any breed but have a few that will keep me alert while around me. First, Rottweillers(?), although Mia's dog is not one that will fit the description of the Rotts in my area (Mia's dog looks like an 8-month pup). There have been a few that I can definitely say that if they were not held by the owner, there would have been a man-dog scrap. Naturally, I would have won . These dogs have been bred human aggressive and sometimes seems too "eager" to follow-up on this trait. Second breed is the Chihuahuas. The lack of care by breeders have perpetuated human aggressive, knee-biters. My chihuahua Spikey (RIP) was one that fit this description. I would tell people not to worry about my bulldog but to stay away at all cost from my Chihuahua. Some listened and some got a LIVE warning from my Chihuahua (LOL).

Hmm... I cannot say I've been scared by a particular breed - though I'm fortunate to be able to say that I've never had a bad instance with any dog (except for the dobe that tried to kill me when I was a baby, yet I don't remember that). I see a lot who do not like cockers... well I grew up around those dumb things and my mother shows them! LoL

I'll have to say I'm nervous around dogs who have nut-cases for owners.

I AGREE COMPLETELY W/14ROCK, BUT FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCES I DONT CARE MUCH FOR CHOWS OR SHAR-PEIS.

WHEN I WORKED IN THE VET CLINIC, ALL SMALL DOGS WERE EVIL, AND LABS AND GOLDENS WERE THE ABSOLUTE WORST TO WORK WITH!!!!! I CANT TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I WAS BIT/SNAPPED AT BY "AMERICAS DOG" :p I HATE EM.

  8. I am terrified of any small dogs, any ankle biters.I also dont like sharpie's or chow chows.I own an akita and hes been a good dog.

Same here, those Chow Chow's & Shar-Peis give me a little warning. Alot of herding breeds too. Great Pyrenese's I'm afraid of now.

Some of you all seem too brave, not scared of any dogs???? I'm scared of anything with teeth and an intent to bite. I try to be cautious with all dogs that I see, asking the owners if they bite before I approach. Just because of the size difference, the little dogs aren't that much of a real threat, but I'd hate to have to kill someone's dog, because they didn't have a handle on it. I have been bit by a German Shepard, doxie's, had my shirt ripped off by a poorly trained pit, and the tongues of my tennis shoes mauled by two yearling pits, and chased by countless breeds of dogs. It always pays to be careful with anything that can bite. As for some of you having ankle biters, you should be courtious enough to put them in their crate or a locked room when you have visitors, it'd be bad to have someone stomp your beloved pet because you don't have the sense to be responsible, LOL!

Mouser, there are INDIVIDUAL dogs I'm leary of, but I do not fear the whole breed because of a few bad specimins I seen. I've been bitten by GSD, labs, poodles, chihuahas, pomeranians a chow and just this past month a Shiba Inu.I'm sure they have been more, but these are the particular dogs I remember vividly and wont forget. The one that keeps me on my toes the most is the Shiba Inu, he litterally went from licking my hand tail going crazy for 45 seconds to next thing I know he locked down on my hand and started shaking furiously. Completely irrational behavior, that dog I am leary of the most.....but I dont label all Shibas as nutcases because this one was. Thats all I'm getting at mouser...and yes, I do cautiously approach all dogs and ask the owner if he minds if I pet his/her dog on the rare occasion I'm out walking dog-less. I watch for signs, and know I could get bitten at every moment. All dogs get treated like this, even other APBTs.

I find it interesting that I have only been bitten once in my whole life. I have been working with dogs for a while and did all kinds of things to them. Restraining them, grooming them, blow drying them, giving them shots, taking their blood, forcing them into places they don't want to go and only once have I been bitten. It was by a toy poodle and it was while I was grooming, she did not like being taken out of a crate... Some people seem to get bit a lot. I was always amazed how much the dogs would tolerate. They really don't want to bite, it's they real freak dogs that will actually bite a human and those dogs I have been careful enough not to get myself bitten.

    DryCreek CH Dog

Any dog, even the best behaved ones, given the proper circumstances, can bite. Its a matter of how far you can push their limits. They cannot reason, they can only react to whatever the situation is presenting to them. It's the ones that bite without reason that I worry about. And the breed that scares me the most.....the human animal.;)

I think perhaps i would rather be mauled than have to see one more picture of one of those NYC rat looking Hairless monsters. Thank you all and hello from a new member.

I was attacked by a chow when i was younger and I really dont trust Akitas all that much. Dobermans just dont look too friendly. I dont dislike any dog, but i do keep trust and dislike at a part. God has taught me not to hate or dislike anything he creates, but to dislike the attitude that they give or the action they put out. As for hate, I believe that the Devil made cats, so i dislike cats.

LOL, I hear you. I was always way more cautious of cats than dogs when working with animals. I have scars from cats, they don't put up with the crap dogs will. I got pretty used to handling them now. It took me a while to understand them... basically, they are animals of manners and don't tolerate disrespect. You have to make an introducion to a cat you don't know and ask their permission to touch them, etc. They are not like dogs at all. It's like men and women.

  20. i dont like cats either they got the eye of a snake and i think snakes are evil,so there for i think anything that has a eye like a snake must be evil.but thats just me.
