  1. Question, i am not a breeder just a lover of the pitt breed..about a year ago i found a stray white red nose when he was about 10 months old...he turned out to be the best pitt i have met...his name is monster but he is a sweethart..he has no papers since he was a stray but he is rock solid 67 lbs, smart and great with other dogs and kids...my question is how do i find the right bitch for Monster?...i would like to have white red nose puppys..i am assuming that i need to find a white dog?..but anything more than that i have no clue...any help would be great.

Congratulations on finding a nice pet, but that's just it!! KEEP him, take care of him, and enjoy him as a wonderful pet!! There is NO REASON to breed your pet! There are more than enough BYB dogs running around, that it is not necessary for someone else to add to the over population!! Hell I believe there has been two dogs bred within the past week or so on this board alone where one produced 8 pups and one 11 that's 19 more back yard bred dogs with no respectable peds, no health testing, no working ability, or no other use what so ever! Do everyone that enjoys this breed a favor and have Monster neutered and let him live the rest of his life happily with you! Bad enough, that your only interested in breeding for color ~ check more into breeding of white dogs and the health effects associated with white dogs. I'm sure there are plenty of wonderful "pits" on petfinder or any other site that need a good home that are just as great as he is. :)

I could understand where you are coming from. Sometimes I wish I hadn't gotten my girl spayed b/c later on I would love to have a pup or 2 from her. The only problem is that if I had bred her, I would have only kept 2 pups. See where this is going. If you do decide to breed, before you do make sure the others have a nice home to go to. Check references, living conditions, enviroment, even do a background check.

Do some research on this site and listen to the advice of the people here. I recommend not breeding as well. I know thats not what you want to hear though. Sorry.

I don't mean to shock you, but tens or even hundreds of thousands of unwanted Pitbulls are killed every year in the nations shelters. You should nuter your boy and be part of the solution instead of being part of the problem.

If you want white/rednosed pups, then go to your local shelter and adopt some! I can guarantee you that their is AT LEAST ONE white/rednose pup sitting on deathrow, only because someone decided to breed their "great, friendly, social dog" to get a certain color.

Neuter your boy & enjoy him as a PET. I know he has a great temperament, but so do thousands of other pit bulls across the nation. But guess what? These dogs are just as great as yours, but their being EUTHANIZED, only because there are so many already. A great dog doesn't necessarily mean he's breeding quality- and without knowing what lies behind him, there is no way to even GUESS how the pups will turn out. Plus, how would you plan to sell a litter of un-papered, possibly mixed, pups? There are so many other people peddling "papered" dogs, a potential buyer would just go get the other dog who does have papers (Real or not).

Breeding to get a color is so. . . Not what this breed is about. Please educate yourself further on piT (Only one 't', it's a pet peeve of one ;)) bulls. This is a great site to do it!

  9. i dont feel you should breed a dog, that you know not his bloodline he could be adding more mutt to the world

  10. i understand all of you leading me to have monster fixed....i also want to say that im not some getto fab kid who thinks having a pitt is "cool" or "gangsta". so please dont assume about me and my dog....i have about 10 people begging me for one of monsters kids...he has the best temperment anyone has seen....he is the official SCION Pro Front Wheel drive race team mascot..he goes to race events as an embasador for Scion.he has appeared in several magazines and on TV.( i work on the team)..he greets and entertaines kids at the races....so what i am saying is he might not have papers or be some perfect "correct" numbers matching or whatever 20 generation breed...he is a great dog.....i have people looking for a great dog....most people love how monster looks, hence asking for white and red....i am from queens NY. i know very well what a fighting dog is about...Monster is not that....so again in my naive non breeding head...i would like to know how to give people that want my dog, a chance of getting one of there own...im not trying to me agressive here, i wasnet looking to be lectured about fixing my dog just because he dosnet have papers.that seems somewhat ignorant and steriotipical, maby i am in the wrong place.....

10 people wanting his pups, and as for him being a white red nose, I guess your gonna sell them pups at no less the 450, so thats 2000 in your pocket. I say this much, get him fixed and tell those people to shop around.

  12. you dont even know my dog?.....and im going to give the pups to friends..no money making dealing...shop around?....you sir seem like a regular jack ass!!!!

Good looking dog, but it doesn't pure bred to me.

Its your dog, do what you please.
    I wouldn't breed him.
Don't take this the wrong way but here is my opinion.

If 10 people want a pup off this dog then that tells me they know even less about ABPTs then you do, and this isn't a breed for the inexperianced.

Seems pretty selfish to me to breed for the sake of breeding.

You mean who would want these dogs waiting for a home? You are filling up spots and these dogs might die because those puppies you are willing to produce will take away homes. Tell all your friends that want a dog like yours to go on petfinder.com. Wouldn't you be more proud of yourself if you helped save dogs lives instead of bringing more in. Oh and BTW my dad races in the same network and he has never heard of you or your dog. All of these dogs need homes and this is only on the first ten pages and only the white ones. Some of these dogs are a lot better looking than your mutt. So please reconsider look into these dogs eyes or all the ones marked URGENT and think htat you could help them find a home. Not take homes away. You think we are attacking you and we are not. We are trying to help a breed so overpopulated so judged that not even the breeders who are doing it for ALL the right reasons with ALL the right equipment and knowledge are breeding. Because there is a lack of homes. If you want another dog get a spayed female and enjoy them. They are PET Bulls not APBTs and there are enough PET dogs in shelters that they only hold them for a couple weeks. You should watch the video of the shelter putting pups to sleep because of lack of room. Some dogs live in shelters for years before they find a home and some return two or three times.

I completly understand your frustration with the responses on this site. The people here are so stuck on preserving the true APBT(some who don't even know what that means). What I was saying is if you want to breed your dog b/c you want to keep a pup or 2 from him then that is fine as long as you have a nice place for the rest of them to go to. Sometimes I feel like I'm in the wrong place, but this is a good place to learn about the APBT(game-dog). Somewhere here you will find info that will direct you through exactly what ever it is that you are going through.Stick around and read, you will learn the unexpected.

  18. this is pretty much what i am going to do..thank you for understanding..i want a few more dogs in a year or two..and they will be monsters kids...my good friends will have his other children...it will be great...

Defend2daend...you make a great point about sending people to shelters and get dogs that need homes allready...i allready encourage as many people as i can to do so and will continue to do just that....what most of you are missing is i dont care if my dog had a questionable first 8 months of life...he is a good dog, if he had paper work, which he might, and i dont know or care, would that make him some how better?....defend, i build race cars for a living...i understand people that only want numbers matching, period correct cars to show off or collect..then there are people that just love cars, love building them and using them...they dont care if the car has a salvage title or a clean one...what matters is what the platform has to offer, and what you do with it....i am one of those people...i just love my dog...my friends all love him..and i wouldnt mind finding the right bitch and letting a few of my good friends enjoy the love that monster gives me....

and defend....im not shure where your dad races, but im glad he does, racers are good people......if you have seen fullthrottle on history channel or super 2nr tv on spike...those were the TV shows my brother and myself have hosted...they are all car shows...i also have been racing toyotas for 10 years, mostly supras..you can ck out my website..www.twinsturbo.com if you have time..thank you for your time people.im gonna go wrestle with monster...Eric

I don't think (well most) folks were trying to be ignorant, but its just that we see this everyday. "My dog is the best. I want pups off him and so do all my friends." Honestly, unless a breeding improves the breed, it is being done for the wrong reason. Your dog was a rescue, and good on you for taking him in. Beautiful, awesome dogs like yours die everyday.

Honestly, I had my time breeding -- also unregistered dogs -- and it was the most heartbreaking thing I've ever done. Folks who wanted pups 6 months ago had changed their minds. The folks who got the pups did stupid things like let them get stolen, get hit by cars, bite people, get shot by police. Some of the pups got Parvo and Coronavirus and things like that when the owners dropped the ball on their vaccinations, and those pups ended up coming back to us so we could pay for them to get better. And these were people that we thought were going to be great homes.

IMO, if you're not breeding toward something, its not worth it. Its best left to the folks who've dedicated their lives to preserving the breed. Let them worry about screening homes, guaranteeing the pups, taking back pups that don't "work out," etc etc etc.

To answer one of your original questions, though, there's no way of telling the kind of pups this dog will throw. Simply because you have no idea what's behind him. (I don't think he looks pure, either. He kind of reminds me of my Dogo Argentino male, with less pigment.)

Good luck either way. Hope you make the right choice.

ETA: As far as being in the "right place," you'll find that most boards populated by people who genuinely love the breed will tell you the same thing. Breeding can be a wonderful thing or a big mistake.

You did a great thing rescuing that dog from the street. But really think about this before you breed him. I know some people on here come off as abrasive and unhelpful, but it's just that they really care about his breed. You say you want to breed for yourself and a few friends. But just take some time to think about how many dogs you will be producing. Say your dog produced 6-8(being conservative) pups in the litter. You said you'll keep 2 personally, that leaves 4-6 pups to find GOOD homes for. Not an easy task. So you do find homes for the pups, who's to say they won't breed them and sell them, and so on and so on. From the dogs you give away or sell in the first litter, they could potentially produce 24 more dogs within a year(and this is assuming you only place 4 dogs), 24 dogs at 6 pups a piece is 144 dogs in 2 years! Every year it grows exponentially. You get my point? This is why there are so many unwanted apbts in shelters. I have 2 rescued apbts and I love them to death. They are great dogs but I would never breed them. I think we all have to try to be part of the solution rather than adding more to the problem of pet overpopulation. Good luck in your decision, Monster is a good looking dog!
