I don’t use fasting for weight loss with my dogs, but it does seem to help with recovering from various stomach ailments. For example- if I have a dog that gets into a gut pile or some other nasty shit I’ll do a 24 hour water fast. I used to try and use rice but it never seemed to work. It also helps if I don’t know which dog is having an issue. I’ll do a 24 hour fast for all of them and it seems to clear up stomach issues more than anything else. For anyone who wants to give it a shot. 24 hours isnt detrimental to health or anything of that nature. It’s like a soft reset for their stomach

Interesting, let the dog missing his highlight of the day LOL. For one reason or another, I was fading the entire yard once a month. Clean their guts.

I feed my dogs once per day at just about the same time so they naturally 'fast' for 24 hours. Once every ten days or so due to my rotating shift schedule they go about 36-40 hours between meals.

I think they like me most of the time but that day they really like me. LOL

Like posted, I don't do that in the colder months. It is all about the calories in the cold.

It will drop below freezing tonight so they got the gravy drenched meal with their chicken backs.

Many studies show feeding once a day improves life span.

Absolutely dogs and humans aren't designed to eat multiple times a day.

I've dropped 50lbs and improved my ibs symptoms to damn near non existent just by cutting down to eating 1x every 24 hours....

On "cheat days" when I eat more than usual or multiple times I feel it for days.... I don't deprive myself of anything. I eat "what I want" just once a day. Kept drinking about the same and still improved my gut health and dropped a significant amount of weight in a relatively short time

@Ssdd Do you eat in the morning or afternoon/evening after a workday is over?

I work a rotating shift. I eat at the end of my day, after I've had my too many beers. A regular day for me is wake up work 8-12 hours, grab my beers, do chores and cook dinner for the house while drinking. When I'm done drinking I'll eat a regular meal... pass out and do it all over.

I'm in no way offering any sort of life/diet/nutritional advice. I'm just saying from eating 2-3x a day living the same way to eating only 1x and making sure 24 pass before I eat or drink anything but water my gut health, overall attentiveness, and all drive have went way up without changing anything else.

We have a trip planned next week to my hometown. Im going to eat everything in sight I miss. Multiple times a day.... I'm going to be miserable for 2 weeks after. But then I will get insanely militant about eating 1x a day and only this many calories for 2 months after lol....

Again I'm not a healthy guy I just figured out I can be a drunk and eat what I want while losing weight and improving my gut health and what not. If I had the will power I'd quit drinking go carnivore diet and still fast.

When my shift changes I will go 36-48 hours without eating to flip my eating schedule to match my work shift. It sucks but survivable

Funny thing is that you could eat what you're dogs eating and get into great shape lol

I am not sure there is any lifestyle that can add weight like rotating shift work. You always seem to eat just before you lay down.

Your plan is super effective. Every year we have a 'health drive' at the plant and a weight loss challenge is one of the activities.

I won so many years in a row that people stopped participating if my name was on the board. All I did was fast for app. 24 hours, ditch the Mountain Dew and walk 30-45 minutes or so each day. I ate the same things and ate as much as I wanted. I once dropped 33 pounds in 50 days (it was a 60 day challenge but I got a late start). The weight loss was incredibly easy.

And one of the reasons I know I am one of the dumbest dudes on the planet? I would take the cash winnings, stop by the grill at the end of the shift, and get a fried pork chop sandwich, a double stacker Little Debbie oatmeal cake and a 20oz. Mountain Dew. I ate that on the way home, fed dogs and went to sleep. From there I resumed my life plan of Mountain Dew and Little Debbie cakes after every night shift.

It took me no time to gain the weight back by coupling the shift work with the breakfast of champions and then going to sleep.
