Here are a couple of my ABs. All very driven with great temperaments with my family. A few of them are just one family dogs. I keep them fairly lean. During summer they really tighten up. Right now since it’s been so shitty I add dyne/red cell/kibble/ and coconut oil just in case we run into a worm issue. They eat a lot of wild shit around here.

    Big fan of the AB.

The first time I took hits in suit from dogs the AB was out of this world.

The Mastiff-types were heavy, would bite and use their weight to pull you down.

The two pit bulls had what felt like a ton of mouth when on the sleeve.

The AB was maybe 90lbs or so and launched like a missile. The first thing that hit the ground was my shoulders. Not knowing what I was doing I was not ready, even tho I thought I was ready. Quite the impact.

Then seen a few on hogs and always wanted to get one.

I got my First papered AB about 20 years ago and have been learning ever since. Lots and lots of scatterbred dogs so it was difficult to choose really good stock. But, in the past 3-4 years I’m happy with what I’ve got. I catch a lot of shit because of their paint jobs and phenotypes but about two years ago I started focusing on what I’ve got and not others opinions. I’ve got the fundamentals and these guys suit my needs. Hopefully get out to a few shows this year. I think about 10% of dogs can earn the title of “Bulldog”. At least for my yard it fits. I also have a very high standard for behavior out of my dogs. There is about 100 bullet points to hit and if you miss one- boom! You’re just a good AB, lol. Think of ol yeller. He could earn the title of “bulldog” and he was a retriever‍♂️. Form follows function …blah blah blah

What's the breeding behind your black ABs, Copper?

There used to be some guys, from Sweden I think, that called themself Blocky Bulldogs, their dogs looked great.

Both Konfederante and True Grit have some nice dogs.

I almost bought one from Art Parker many years ago off his My Boy dog. Two of his dogs were My Boy, an AB, and Guy a coal black straight Colby dog.

These were two best looking canine specimens I have ever seen. I have never been much on buying a dog based on looks but these two could have changed my mind.

    Damn near perfect.

Art had AB behind the trailer in the woods that would eat your ass up too. Just looking at Art yard you wouldn't think he had the dogs that he had.

No doubts. The quality for one and then the sheer number.

I rode around with him to feed up on one visit. He dumped nearly two bags of food in the back of a Mule/John Deere Gator and we drove and talked and drove and talked, feeding dogs along the way. When we got back he dumped the bed and a handful or so fell on the ground and this mixed up looking Beagle dog thought he had hit the lottery. My guess was sometimes the bed was empty. LOL

And true, it was a handful he said, "Let me feed that one". Funny thing is I had already figured that one out. LOL

    He was good people.

I always wondered if his son Bubba continued in the dogs?

Yes. I saw a female get just about gutted by a hog in the lumber yard. I mean when the old folks say from 'asshole to appetite', it was just that.

I chalked her to being dead. Basically, gashed from her breastbone to her cootchie.

These cats laid her on the tailgate of a truck and I doubt there was a better animal hospital within 500 miles. It was amazing at their level of skill, their equipment and their commitment to saving a good dog.

The female caught sight of a hog and they had to hold her down to keep doctoring.

The next morning as we pulled up to the park where they did the pulling and conformation shows the conversation in out truck was whether she was 'bulldog game' or another type of game. We just happened to park by her owners and when we were getting out of the truck they were walking her out. In her beat up state she was pulling to thing with four legs and fur.

Us bulldog guys don't just hand out the 'game card' so we left it that she was 'sorta game', being an American Bulldog and all.

Ba haha! Sounds like a good hard dog. They’ll all quit eventually. I had my black female snap her foot in half and I didn’t know till we finished a 10 mile ride. 6k later she back at it again. That’s a good hard dog. Game doesn’t really come into play in my life. That same female caught and ate a gray squirrel in about 5 minutes while on a run. Never below 8-10 mph. She’s the one chewing the face off the deer in those pics. What you don’t see is the other 4 females that wouldn’t dare go near that deer while queen bitch is eating. She had a cast on at the time‍♂️

All right AGK- how about some insight on uploading videos to the right size. Your other info was on point

Videos are going to be way to large to upload. For those, I use YouTube or any other platform that will give a code to copy and paste the link somewhere else that links back to the video.

    Simpler terms,

Upload your video to YouTube - once it uploads click share. That will copy the code to your clipboard. Come here and right click in the reply box and paste the code in the reply box. Video is then embedding. It's a lot easier than it sounds. Give me a few hours and incan probably make a decent screenshot tutorial to upload videos.

    Ok.

Step 1: upload video from your phone or computer to YouTube.

    Screenshot_20240126_212055_YouTube.jpg

Step 2: once the video is finished uploading you'll find it by clicking on manage videos on your YouTube homepage. Click the 3 bars tab on the right corner of the video.

    Screenshot_20240126_212117_YouTube.jpg

Step 3: once you click on the 3 bars on the right side of the video, a new window with options opens, click share. This copies the link to your clipboard.

    Screenshot_20240126_212140_YouTube.jpg

Step 4: come back here and in the reply box, right click somewhere inside the reply box and paste the link that was saved on your clipboard. That posts the video here. Sometimes it embeds it so you can just watch the video from here or it posts a link that the viewer has to click on to view the video. Either way works.
