What other breeds do you like?

  1. Just from a day to day perspective.

My other favorite besides the pitbull is the Rottweiler. They are one of my favorites for home defense in case someone breaks in at night and my husband isn’t home. My Rotties have been so loyal to the family and kids just like our pitbulls have been. Even though my Rotties are very protective, they are wonderful with friends and welcomed guests

I like American bulldogs too but am disappointed with a lot of the breedings I see nowadays.

I’m intrigued by the tosa. I’ve only been around one but it was a neat dog, although very big.

curious what other breeds you all like?

Right on, daisy getting some fun threads popping around here.

Not too many dogs I don’t like. Although my sons frenchie will literally shit himself and yak 2-3x on a 1 mile walk if the temp is over 70F… and he’s more ugly than he is cute… he brings joy to my son so he ain’t so bad LOL.

Personally, Working dog breeds are of great interest to me. I like a dog that gets a job done and highly value the time, selection and years of work other men/women have dedicated in pursuit of that goal.

My boy used to be terrified of thunderstorms. I trained him to grab a toy and start playing. It took awhile, but it worked.

I love the Dogo Argentino. I visited one of the creators of the breed, Las Pampas kennels in West Palm. The dogs were really impressive, didn’t fell to shell out $10k for a pair and didn’t want to settle for a substandard dog…

If I could get one for close to nothing I'd get a frenchie.... just don't see myself paying the kind of money folks get for them for a waste of food though.

If I didn't have these dogs I'd probably have a Belgium Malinois or a Boerboel.

Pair of Dobermans. As a 9 year old kid I saw a pair working guarding the fence line of a property. I remember feeling fear and excitement about those dog. Just the way they looked at me as I walked by. That feeling never left me.

The guy that turned me onto bulldogs as a ten-year-old had a huge red Doberman named John. He ran loose on the yard. He looked the part and at times acted the part.

In reality he was scared of his own shadow. He did not have an aggressive nor a defensive bone in his body.

His son and myself logged well over a 'million' miles on bicycles and that Doberman trotted damn near everyone one of them. He struck fear in every person that seen him and we could have been the baddest two kids in our town as long as John was with us. LOL

Hind sight being 20/20, if chose all over again, I would have stayed in the man-dog community and gravitated toward the Malinois but I think my heart would have pushed me to the working AB.

Sort of like a 'bulldog's gravitational pull'.

Another is the Bull Terrier have owned several during my life. Two of my favourites house dogs were odd crosses, both really sound bitches. One a Pit Bull/Staffordshire Bull Terrier x Bull Terrier, the other a Pit Bull/Mastino x Shar-Pei.

A bulldog or nothing else for me. The 5 years I spent without any dogs. I looked at a few different breeds and just couldn't see feeding anything else. Once you get the curse that shit stays with you lol

This is why I've never had other breeds. Once you have this breed, I feel like anything else would just, kind of be a let down. Lol. I like all dogs but probably will never own anything else.

Staghounds. Beautiful badass coyote killers! There is nothing like a bulldog, we all know that but in this day and age having a yard full of bulldogs is rather pointless (in the USA).
Having a dog you can actually work and use for its intended purpose is enjoyable to say the least. Staghounds love to hunt, love to run and and make great house pets. Their athleticism and toughness would surely impress any dogman who's held the leash of a real bulldog.

I like staghounds too, it's definitely in my top 5 favorite dogs.
Hunting with bulldogs is way way way more limiting than it is with a staghound, a dog that can run down just about anything. Staghounds also don't require much effort to keep, they're content with doing absolutely nothing until they're in the field.

  18. Saw a nice American bulldog today. For a while I was disappointed in the breed so it was nice seeing a good one. I guess my 3 favorite breeds (and the ones I have most experience with) would be pitbulls, American bulldogs, and Rotties.

If I wanted a Rottie/pit mix, my current Rottie female would be the dog I’d breed a pit to. She’s that intense and athletic for a rottie. She fires up nearly as quick as my pits do on any task I ask of her or whatever is needed she’s ready.
I like my pits pure but she’s a beast that’s for sure. I haven’t said that about many of my Rotties that’s for sure

  20. Always been super interested in mastiffs especially the Italian ones (Corso's and Neo's) really wish the Neo's weren't in such shit shape these days.

Other than that lately have become really interested in the American bulldog
