Can't say you did anything wrong except trust the word of another dog owner. Many of us have learnt not to trust what other dog owner say. If you don't know any dogs/pups you can socialise you pup with. Look for a puppy training class near you, he may not learn much but will get to meet pups of a similar age. You vet or local pet shop should know where one is locally.

You said other dogs I took it as you have done it before more then once? so I would figure the first time you didn't learn

GC Croata, GC Mayday, GC Bo, Ch Butcher Boy, all aggressive puppies that dominated litter. Were they curs?

Hard to apply golden rules to bulldogs

There are shy gamedogs, sweet gamedogs, mean gamedogs, aggressive gamedogs, loud gamedogs quiet gamedogs

There will come a time when your dog will show whether he is game or not, but it's not at 12 weeks at dog park with a husky

The easiest, least expensive phase of your journey was buying the pup. And a dice roll. As with any pup.

Pup is already genetically mapped. Inherent drives will kick in over time. Just need to set conditions for as confident a dog as possible. Not in order necessarily but overlapping priorities:
    1. Health, safety and nutrition
    2. Socialization, bonding
    3. Practical obedience to suit your lifestyle
    4. Fun dog sports and conditioning program
    JMO. Good luck.
